Just figured I would pass this info along, OMB Express currently has FN FNAR's for sale for $971, there are 1 or 2 on gunbroker for about the same...though you would have to pay shipping and transfer; the others on gunbroker are closer to 1300. So if someone is interested this might be worth checking out.

Think twice...
I read all the reviews I could find before purchasing an FNAR and found very little negative and quite a bit of positive. HOWEVER, my won experience has proven quite different. My suggestion, if you want a semi auto .308, buy an AR-10 or variant of such. After a little more than a handful of rounds fired, a dozen cratered primers on factory ammo and one blown primer on a hand load (NOT A HOT LOAD), I sent my gun in for repair. That was 4 1/2 months ago. Still waiting... The damn repair shop is in Arnold!!! After Christmas they may get a visit from me... P.S. Anyone want to buy a very slightly used FNAR

They probably haven't finished disassembling it yet! Have you ever tried it? |

I have a scar 17 and the rear iron sight will not switch aperture's and I called about it. they wanted me to send the whole rifle in. I asked why I couldn't just ship the sight and they gave me some bullshit about how if it is under warranty they had to do it, blah blah. FN customer service has gone down hill lately. | Yeah...that's what i read too. I think the problem with mine is a chamber dimension issue. I am no expert, but that's what my experience leads me to believe. I WANT my FNAR to be a good gun...While waiting for the FNAR to come back from the service shop I have since bought an AR-10 and to date (about 150 rounds) I have had zero issues with it. I'm betting it doesn'tg have the accuracy potential that the FNAR has, but...it doesn't blow primers out either. WSe shall see...SOON I hope! |

No blown primers...slight indication of pressure (very slight cratering on some , not all primers) on longer bullets...
Didn't shoot worth a crap. The best two of us could do with 5 different loads, factory and reloads, was about 2.5 inches... And yes I am capable of shooting sub MOA groups as is the guy I was shooting with. I'm completely disheartened with this gun. I really wanted it to be a shooter. I'm still going to try to get it fixed. My friend is going to the shot show and is going to talk to the rep to see if he can't get some resolution for me. We'll see... Not had great luck with guns in the past year. I also have T/C Icon which are supposed to be great shooters...It'll stack 2 or 3 bullets on top of one another and then scatter one 2 or 3 inches away...Which bullet is off target is random...sometimes #1 sometimes #3...etc. It's been back for repair twice already and still no dice. oh well...I figure something out eventually. |

Not a scope propblem for sure...I am with you on the bedding thing although the action is aluminum pillar bedded at 3 points and the barrel is free floated. I was told by a reputable smith that the barrel was rubbing in a couple of places, but I can't figure out when it is doing so...I will probably go ahead and bed it and see if that helps...There are machine marks about 1/16th" down in the end of the barrel pependicular to the lands and grooves that I assumed were at least part ofthe problem, but the manufacturer refuses to even acknowledge their existance...
I'll get arround to messing with it later this winter... Thanks for the input. |
