Are there any gun shops that will take a pic and help fill out the form for a fee?  I'd like to make getting a FOID as painless as possible.

Thanks

If you're not able to get your hands on a digital camera and some photo paper to print a pic out, check yellow pages for "passport photos"

Or try calling some of the places in this link:

Normal, IL firearm dealers

As for filling out the form - It's pretty straightforward, but you do need to fill it out by yourself since you have to sign it indicating you filled it out. It's really simple and you can get one at any firearms dealer, law enforcement agency or online

edit... one of our own members is down your way right now, at least til the semester's over. Might be able to help you get a photo printed out. I'm pretty sure he's got a camera. I'll point him to this thread.

Walgreens (or IIRC any other pharmacy) will do the passport photo.

I just got a passport photo from walgreens for 7.99 for my UTAH CCW.

Any firearms store will have FOID apps, or you can print one from the website listed above.

If you are an IL resident and have an IL DL, they will use your license photo now instead of forcing you to get one taken.

what if you have a state ID and no DL? Do they use that pic or are you SOL?

Thanks.  I just got my IL DL today.  I do have a digital camera. I should be able to print one myself.  For some reason I thought that the process was more difficult than that.

my sister in law got her pic taken with me at a gun shop the guy used a polaroid.
i got my pic taken at a gun shop they did the same. my renewal i took a digital pic of myself and this time they replaced it with my new DL picture.
so take it yourself either with a polaroid or digital or regular camera send it in and save the 7.00 and pain of waiting at walgreens. print the application off the state police web site and you could have it in the mail tomarrow. 2 1/2 weeks later you should have it.
