I need to know how to change the address on my FOID.
Not often but sometimes I'll buy ammo online and vendors will only ship ammo to the address on my FOID and not my new address. Thanks For Your Time VonBarky |
| When you renew your FOID, I believe, is the only time they will change your address. I'm not sure that you have to wait until it expires to renew it. As most FFLs use your DL and FOID for gun transactions, as long as one of the IDs is current, they can continue with a transaction. I can see where it would be a problem with an out-of-state ammo transaction. I don't think that they will send you a new card in the middle of your current FOID term. It's only $10, but worth the hassle, plus you get another 10 years. |

I believe that meets the legal requirement for reporting your COA to the ISP, but leaves you with your old card, showing your old address. |

Are you really trying to apply logic to a politically motivated agency in the state of Ill-Annoys? How long you ived here?

Originally from Michigan (suburban Detroit), but I moved to escape the auto industry. And a very good thing I did! |

Some car rental places give you the eye when you present an Illinois driver's license with the renewal sticker on the back. I imagine an ammunition vendor would do the same thing. |

For clarification, submitting the COA only allows you to use the current card until its printed expiration date, not extend it past 10 years. I would assume the purpose of not issuing an extension sticker is that after 10 years, we probably look a little different and it would probably be appropriate to change the FOID picture by then. I know that I personally look different 100 pounds ago...uh, I mean, 10 years ago than I do now |

The vendor won't be looking at the original sticker, just a fax copy of one. |
