Hi

Recently my Fab10 had several similar feeding issues.  The bolt seems to get stuck at the green follower on top of the internal clip.  (I apologize if I use the wrong Terminology)   The rangemaster took a look and recommeded that I take probably need to replace the follower and the spring in the internal clip.  (I have seen several postings as well on this issue)  Is it easy to replace this? and where do I order the replacement parts?  I asked around several gunsmiths if they can fix this and they will not repair since they do not have an assualt weapon permit.

I only fired about 60 rounds when this issue started.  Is this problem normal for a FAB10?  Seem like there are many positive reviews about the FAB10 on AR15.com

I have a Bushmaster 20" upper and so far I used only Federal XM193 ammo

Any help would be appreciated.

Is it actually hitting the follower, or is the round not moving?

Tell them they r retards cuz it's not an "Assualt Weapon."

Before taking the mag apart, try putting some lube on the follower.  Just push it down with your finger and lube the contact points where the follower touches the mag. It sounds to like the follower is rotating in the mag cuz they chop the legs on the follower to fit 10rnds in the mag.

Hope that helps, good luck!

FAB10 is not an Assult Weapon as per DOJ, (other wise you won't be able to buy one)  The gunsmiths you talked to are blowing smoke.

Never done this, but supposely all you need to do is to drill out (remove) the rivet in front of the mag well (the silver looking button thingy) and unscrew the allen screw on the left side of the reciever.  Then you can take out the mag and replace the green follower with any standard GI version.  If you still want 10 round, then you need to shorten the legs on the standard GI green follower, else you may get only 8 or 9 rounds in.  But with more reliable feeding (supposely)

The bolt and carrier should not get stuck on the follower unless it is poping out of the mag body.  If that's the case, I guess you won't be asking how to remove the follower  And I assume you are not talking about the bolt stop locking the bolt back... Does it happen when empty or anytime?

Try this test.  Make sure your weapon is unloaded and empty.  Then just pull back the bolt and while holding the charging handle ride the bolt carrier forward (you may have to disengage the bolt stop first)  Do you feel any resistence or stuck half way closed?  Does the resistence lessen when you try this again while holding the trigger back?

If that's the case, then it is not your mag.  Your hammer is engaging your bolt carrier (firing pin) on the forward movement.  Take a look at your bolt carrier and hammer.  Can you see the back of the firing pin (rim) in the bolt carrier?  Does your hammer have wear mark at the top?  Sometimes, the hammer can ride high enough to drag on the firing pin rim.  This is a bad thing, as this put stress on your firing pin retaining hair pin.  Keep this going, eventurally you'll have to replace the pin.

To fix this you can read in the trouble shoot forum.  In summary, I think you just have to notch/file flat the top of the hammer a little.

If it is not your hammer on the firing pin, try to look for other drag marks..

www.brownells.com for the AR-15 follower/spring. You will need to cut the spring down to size.

Note that removing the magazine voids the FAB-10 warranty.

Before altering your FAB10 I strongly urge you to call Michael at 775-246-3500 and explain your problem to him.  He generally is very supportive and willing to help.

Best of luck,  Patty McNary
