Okay, I sold a handgun to a police office from another town in OK and we are meeting up to make the transaction face to face this weekend. As far as I know there is nothing illegal about personal firarms sells to individuals, correct? We are doing a purchase receipt with name, phone, purchase amount etc...Is there anything else that I need to know before meeting him? Since he is an officer I don't want to mess anything up and possibly get in trouble for anything. Kind of makes me a little nervous...

Shouldn't be a problem. Its no different than selling a gun at a gun show. Actually its better you know who you re selling it to. It is a good idea to do the receipt and get names and such for both of your protection.

There are no records required for a private transaction.......

Look closely for video cameras, microphones, other people with loose baggy clothing lurking around "pretending" to be doing nothing, people peeping over rooftops, window curtains parted sightly, vans with tinted windows, plain jane ford crown victorias parked in alleys with a minimum of two people inside and the engine running.

If you don't see anything like that. You're O.K.

Would you not make him worry with that kind of BS?????
Hell, you can't tell they have a camera on them as small as those fish eye lenses are and the fiber optics leads are.
And not only are the digital video recorders small, the audio recorders are even smaller.
Besides, they wouldn't bust him then, they would wait several months so any evidence for his defense wouldn't have creditability.

Don't worry, it's OK to sell to anyone in OKlahoma.. Just so long as you know they aren't underage, mentally ill, or have a criminal record.
Of course, that doesn't relieve you of civil suits if they use your old gun to shoot someone.

I'd ask him to bring you a copy of his commission, a background check from the OSBI, and a cashiers check made out to you just to be on the safe side.

You'll be OK if you know he isn't a crook or underage.

Are you a felon? Been convicted of domestic abuse? Resident of Oklahoma?

Hell if he doesn't look hinky, just ask him to hand over the $$$ then hand him the gun.

Don't get out of your car.

Crack the window just enough for him to give you the money.

Then quickly lower your window down enough to pass the gun out.

Then speed off in the opposite direction of your house as to throw any tails off.

Also remove your license plate so nobody can get.

That's how I roll!

That doesn't surprise me. I always knew cops were shady.

ManDown, good luck on the sale. I bought my 229 from one of the finest of Stillwater's PD.
I later got one hell of a deal on a Colt AR from him., too.
He was good to do business with. I'm sure you'll have the same luck that I did.

BTW, if you are out of his jurisdiction, he probably can't make an arrest.

Well thanks for all of the replys...smartasses  ...but he backed out this morning. He said the person that was buying something from him backed out on him. Since he didn't have the funds from his sale he had to back out on me....what a pain but oh well. The gun is now back up for sell...What should I've expect from a bunch of okies!

That sucks!
Sorry it didn't work out.
Obviously his back up team and him had to work some speed traps some place.

You dont want to sell a gun to a cop anyway  no telling what he would do with it,  probably either hurt himself or someone else

Wow

he wanted you to give up all the personal info and a receipt for a ftf

He inadvertently posted to his want ad about it not being sold and it got locked for the 3 day rule.
He's got a nice Sig 229 DAK in 40S&W. with (4) four 12 round mags.
Contact him via IM for a price.

If the buyer is a ARFcom member, then you need to leave feedback in the feedback forum of the EE.
Contact a EE mod if needed.

I am going to lock this thread.
