INDY 1500 GUN & KNIFE SHOW Can't decide if I should go or not. Honestly, there isn't a whole lot I want right now... I bet there might be some deals though. |
|
My wife says I don't get to go because "Indy is too far from Southbend". I know that there will tons of deals now. Prices are dropping, Walmart is getting more ammo, and all the newbs who wanted an AR have one so LOTS should be on the tables ready for me to buy low and build right.
She just doesn't understand that I only have 2 and that is insufficient! |

Recon outlying areas for possible bug-out scenarios. |

I'm taking the gf so she can pick up an AR lower and start a build (I might pick up one or two if there
are good deals). She wants to sell a pistol there and I was wondering what the protocol was. She'd rather do a face to face sale to an individual (better price than a dealer will give). I've seen some folks walking around with a sign on their backs advertising whatever. What's the protocol for bringing it for a private sale? |

If anyone is coming into Indianapolis on I69 (from the northeast), plan an alternate route when you get near Indy. The interstate is basically shut down on the NE side of Indianapolis. http://www.fox59.com/news/wxin-explosion-i-465-102209,0,2532608.story |

What's the protocol for bringing it for a private sale? A lot of people bring guns to sell or trade at the show. Private face to face sales are legal in Indiana so it's no problem. Some sellers will ask to see a drivers license to make sure the buyer is an Indiana resident and some might want to see a carry permit to verify the buyer is a "proper person", it's up to you. Make sure the gun is unloaded when you bring it in. You will stop at a table at the entrance and the police will verify it's unloaded and put an orange tie strap thru the chamber. This makes the gun safe and indicates it belongs to a private seller and not one of the dealers at the show. When you leave, people at the door will check for the orange strap or ask to see a receipt that proves you bought it from a dealer. Most people just carry them around and others will ask about it but it's nice to have a sign so you don't have to answer the same questions over and over. If you have any accessories for the gun (extra mags, box, etc) bring them in with you, it makes the gun easier to sell. |

Thanks for the info! I figured it wasn't a big deal, but I wanted to make sure I didn't inadvertantly violate some
rule. For gun sales I always ask to see a DL if it isn't going through an ffl. I was aware of the only selling a handgun to an Indiana resident bit of law and have no wish to violate federal law. |
| I think this one will be good. The last show was an interesting mix as far as ARs was concerned of dealers who were still trying to get panic pricing, and dealers who were selling for rock bottom prices to get rid of inventory. I think we will probably see more of the latter at this one. |

Went last night after work, I wasn't real impressed.
Lots of ARs, AKs, and other black rifles, some pretty good pices from the ususal suspects, other not so good prices. One of my firends said he saw Stag lowers for $90 bucks, I didn't see them as I wasn't looking for lowers as I already have a couple stashed away. Have to laught at the people selling federal and remington bulk pack 22, winchest 9mm bulk for $30+ a box and the people how are asking $12-15 for used GI mags. Didn't see much I couldn/t live with out, did sell an old rifle I hadn't shoot in years. |

For those that have been, did you notice availability of primers and what the price is ? May have to make a trip ;) Thanks Dave Primers are abundant at the show! I saw CCI's & Wolf for $35/1K, other vendors had primers marked all the way up to $45/1K!!! AR's are back to earth prices. My buddy picked up a DPMS complete lower w/A2 stock for $199. Saw Wolf .223 for around $249/1K. Things looked a little more reasonable and this Saturday was a pleasant stroll through the isles with a not so crammed crowd. |

The GF and I each picked up a Stag lower for $90.
AR prices were reasonable again and I even picked up some 10mm ammo for a good price, then one vendor over had the same ammo for double that, I just laughed. GF got several questions on her pistol for sale and I got a few for the rifle, but no takers. My score was 2 8lb jugs of H50bmg. It was priced a little high, but between shipping and hazmat, I walked out at about the going rate from Midway, so while I didn't get a deal, I didn't get fleeced, and my next 500 or so .50 are gtg. I actually saw AR10s and LR-308s there at not rape me prices! I too saw plenty of primers, $34 was the cheapest I saw per k and average seemed to be $38. I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't too crowded, we were there from 8:30 to 11. |

I plan to go to the next one in Jan . I want to get a SAIGA 12 ga and my bro said that they are going for $530 out the door . Not a bad price at all . not really considering they were $199 a few years ago, Yeah I know .... I blame my X wife for that . But I just don't think we will ever see those prices again . The shop by me has em for 699 . |

I went Saturday morning. Pretty decent show. Picked up some PMags and a "Come and Take It" patch. Sold my rifles fairly quickly and met some nice guys. MrsGungho- I must have stopped by after you left. I had to deal with Ron. lol yeah I left around noon on Saturday. He got to sleep in so I got to leave early. Worked fair in my opinion. |

Had a guy from Elkhart and Chesterton stop by my booth this weekend. She knows I'd buy. I went in Feb and found out my local guy sold my WASR10 (Tapco raped) for an insane price, so I turned around and spent it at the Double Star booth. This time I still have the same debit card, but nothing to spend (not that this would hold me back). Maybe the spring show. |
