| sweet.....a few of you are interested! it wouldnt matter to me what kinda bikes.....just as long as it had 2 wheels. W_W...i was kinda looking to you for advice on where would be a good area.....then we'd have to make sure that we had a centeral meeting point so it'd be fair to all. i am in the southern most part of AZ. Ive heard a few of my buddies that were born and raised here talk of a few good rides...... does anyone have any suggestions? |

... The timing for our demographic cross-section is perfect. Some of the nicer rides during the really warm part of the season is up north in the mountains; but this time of year and winter, they're best done in the southern part of the State. ... One possibility for a day ride would be to meet near northern Tucson for a late breakfast or lunch and do the loop through Oracle, Mammoth mine area on up SR77 to Kearny. From there, there is little backtracking on any road previously taken that day for everyone heading back home. ... Way south east has some fantastic runs but it would almost take an overnight trip to not be in the saddle the entire day. ... Years ago we used to ride with a Tuscon motorcycle club chapter and a popular quick day-run between Phoenix and Tucson was one where we all just met equidistant at Picacho Peak for lunch and a few games of pool then turned around and headed our respective directions after a couple hours. |
Nice, Im trying to talk my CFO (wife) into letting me get a 6th gen VFR |
Naw, I'd believe you. The type of work/service done in this city is at best mediocre. Sorry about yer luck. AB |
| awesome. W_W...looks like youve slotted yourself as the official "help Styk plan this out" guy. I'm up for whatever, specially if we're around Tuscon, thats not too far for me. Thing is going to be...getting it planned and done inbetween me being gone on travel for work!! |

For me, the best possibility is to plan ahead of time...get it on the schedule, then as life occurs, I can move all the other life-stuff around the ride. Sounds like fun, let's throw out some dates. Some may work, some may not. If I miss this one, I'll catch another. |

I just did the "short ride" for the first time from the East Valley in Phoenix. Just headed up Hwy 88 past Canyon Lake and Tortilla Flats until the pavement ends. A friend and I left the house at 6am and got to the twisties just as the sun was rising, it was gorgeous! Scheduling in a long ride...is always an issue, but a short jaunt up and back in 2 hours was nice and I got back before the family woke up. Anybody in Phoenix up for a "Dawn Patrol" of Canyon lake one of these Saturday mornings? |
An old roommate of mine just sent me pics of the bike ride he and a/some friend(s) went on outside of Phoenix. He drove/flew down from Oregon or Washington (I think that's where he's living now) just to hang out and ride bikes in the desert. Talk about dedicated. So I guess there's some good riding out that ways? |
SWEET BIKE! I'm going to be buying a KLR within the next week or two. You post over at KLR650.net? |
