Hello all,
I have a few family members who are considering moving down to the area, specifically South Carolina (though there is nothing wrong with North Carolina!) to link up with a few other family members who are already down there. High taxes (and they're only going up) and being red dots in a blue sea can kinda wear on a person up here (Wisconsin). They just wanted to run a few questions your way, if possible. Any help would be great. 1.) Hunting: what is the hunting situation like? Deer? Hogs? etc. 2.) Fishing: popular and accessible? Or remote and difficult? 3.) Climate: do folks do stuff outside during the summer or is it just too dang hot? 4.) Job situation? Tough to come by? (one is a sheet metal construction work and another is a young attorney) 5.) Anything you would warn/inform anyone about? |

Anything you would warn/inform anyone about? Hunting is good. Can't commmint on fishing but believe it should be good also. Weather is what you want to make of it. I grew up down south in Georgia . It's hot as Hell there. But it doesn't stop our lives. I normally stay outside in the summertime. I can't stand being in a house. I never knew middle Ga was hot till I moved away because of the Military.... Honestly it's as much as a MENTAL thing as it is anything else. REALLY ... I'm in NC and we ( me and my kids ) live outside in the summertime. I want the to sweat and play hard. I don't want no FAT kids if I can help it.... So there going outside regardless if it's 90 or 100 ..... Drink plenty of cold fluids ( water and Gatorade type drinks ) and you won't die..... I love a hot a$$ summer. I hate winter time.... WarDawg Also you will find out what Fireants are and Chiggers/redbugs rather quickly.... Hunting season is normally rather warm for the most part IMO. Enjoy, WarDawg |

From a SC viewpoint.............
The hunting is great. Hogs have no closed season, we hunt them year round. Deer season runs from mid August to Jan 1st. No limit on bucks and there are a lot of "doe days" in addition you can purchase doe tags. The deer will be much smaller (on average) than those in Wisconsin. Fishing is very good too. SW fishing is excellent along the coast although NC may have a better rep in this department factoring in the Outer Banks area. FW fishing is outstanding also just research the Santee Cooper lakes and the Edisto, Cooper & Santee rivers. This is all midlands to coastal fishing as I can't speak about upstate areas. Climate is good it's just very hot & humid in June, July & August. But the mild winters make up for that. Jobs are tight everywhere in the country. Hope you like sweet tea! |
oh no here it comes!
