Well, I finally found the time to get to the range in Richmond Hill (the ONLY one around Savannah) and test out my new toys. I have not been able to get there for one reason or another, so today I took my M16 clone, my MAADI AK47 I rebuilt, my CZ52, and my brand new RIA 1911A1 .45.

First, the good:

The M16 clone (old school) worked to perfection! Only one FTF of Wolf ammo out of 250 rounds. She was light, accurate and a hit with everone there as she was the only "black" rifle at the ball. I am very happy with her!

Now for the OK:

The AK has some hiccups. (I'll be on the dark side of the board in a few to get answers) The FCG seems to hang up and not release the trigger. I have to manually push it forward. Also, the carrier seems to hang up on the hammer when it (the carrier) comes to the rear. I put in a brand new FCG, so maybe it just needs some more breaking in. I'll find out from one of the guys on the AK side of the site.

The RIA 1911A1 worked OK. I had several FTF, but it may be the cheap ammo I was using (American Ammo). I have heard some issues involving the feed ramp on the RIA's needing to be polished. I'm looking into that. BTW, the FTF were not mag related.....I purchased a Wilson combat 47D mag for it as well, and had the same problems as the Novak mag that came with the gun. Other than that, this thing is a lot of fun!

On to the BAD:

My CZ is sick! I only managed about 10 rounds fired out of 32 rounds. all the Failures had indents in the primer, but I dont think it was hard enough to fire the round. These were surplus military rounds, probably with hard primers, but.........
I am going over to the mackarov/CZ52 site for some answers..

I have a lot of work to do to get these where I want them, but that is the fun of this hobby. If anyone has any ideas for me on the above, don't hesitate to let me know.

There are a few "dark side" guys here.  DeltaAir knows a good bit about AKs.

Where did you get the RIA?

Glad to hear you made it out there.  Let me know when you're planning to go again and I'll see if I can meet up with you, I still have to try out my old school AR.
