I am looking for a place around Sangamon County to take my 14 year old son on his first Deer hunt.
He has a .50 cal Hawken rifle that he got this year and he just completed his young hunters safety clinic last month with a perfect score. Getting good grades in high school and is really excited and driving me nuts wanting to go hunting. I told him we would see if we can find a place and if we can get a muzzleloader license. I looked at the IDNR site and it shows a few license for either sex and a bunch more for doe only. If anyone has a spot we might be able to go, please let me know. I told him we would see what we can do, and we hope to zero in and get him some practice with his rifle next weekend after my weekend drill is over. Thanks |

Start with the sporting stores and get info....maybe you can call one in the area that you intend to hunt and get more up to date info.
Anyplace that you can buy a license is a hit or miss with info, but you may get lucky and talk to someone who is actually a hunter. |
