Saw 2 does out the back window about 4 pm, so put on boots and orange and slipped out the front door!!  Snuck down the south fence to our little creek then downstream until I ran out of cover for a 143 yd shot!!!  All said it was probably a 30 min sneak.

STAG model 2T carbine, with a RRA 2 stage, Remington 223-55 gr corelok. She might have made it 75 yds at the most!! Lungs were toast!!!

Congrats! And they said EBR has no sporting purpose ...
In the last few years, I took one doe with my M4 from about 50-75m, and another doe with my A2 DCM from 140m. Both using iron sight.

Congrats Brad [beer}

Where  did you get the 10 round mag?

Me, too.  I got one at about 180 yds with my 6.5 Grendel on opening day for KS.  I had loaded up some 129gr Hornady SP.  Lung shot, in one side out the other, she ran about 30 yds.

There is a push to start always referring to our EBRs as MSRs (Modern Sporting Rifles).  Use their tactics to our benefit.

Congrats!!! It's great to see more people deploying rifles in the AR platform for deer hunting purposes! I took a fat doe from about 50 yards right behind the front leg. She did not make it farther than 10 yards when death took over!!! Oh, and I was using my 6.8 SPC AR-15. I am now a believer that a 110 grain Hornady TAP round is sufficient for deer hunting especially within the range that I took her. Again, congrats on the kill!!!

Congrats! I also took my first deer with an AR this year. It was a Stag 6.8 SPC upper w/Leupold 3-9X40 scope, home built lower. I'm not sure about the Hornady V-Max, 110 grain bullet, though. I hit it her a little higher than I wanted at about 150 yards. Both lungs, through & through, didn't appear that any other vitals were touched. She ran for around 3/4 mile, with a decent blood trail, not great. I've heard good things about the Barnes Triple Shock, gonna try them for next year.

I am gonna agree with you bjtraz. Anything farther than 75-100 yards might be pushing it with the 6.8 V-Max. I have been wanting to try some of the stuff that Silver State Armory puts out. Just didn't have enough time to get them. Cabela's used to carry them and then all of sudden they decided to pull them off the shelf. Oh, well, gonna have to get them through the website next time.

I took two this year with my 5.56 Predator Pursuit rifle. They are my first deer with an AR. Used handloads with 65 grain Gamekings.  The first one was shot at 60 yards and the second was shot at about 30. Each piled up about 10 yards away. Both ended up being button bucks.
