Me and the fiance will be flying in thurs morning. We are coming for rangers spring training in surprise we are actually staying in glendale as it was the closest w/o being too expensive. I'm just wondering what cool things are there to do and see? Any reccomendations on where to eat? Thanks for the help. |

Come on over to Luke, I'll show you around base. West Gate has some nice places, but it's kind of expensive. Not too far from the ball parks. The Yard House inside West Gate has tons of beer. 150 to choose from, IIRC. For some reason, my teenage kids like eating there even if it's kind of steep for them. ETA* Judging by your name, you're .MIL at least prior....why would you care about seeing an AF base?? |

If you have a few hours to kill and a car, take a scenic drive. Apache Trail is nice, desert and lakes but their might be some others people would recommend. Even if you only do the paved part it is some nice scenery and its a good time of year for getting out and taking a look around, less snakes, bugs and the heat wont kill ya. |

anyone here into spring training ball? If so any tips? I imagine if you live there its probably no biggie but for those of us who dont i'm pretty excited. I've actually never been to a game. But I've spent A LOT of time at the ballparks on the west side. This Sunday will be my first spring training game. We're going as a company outing.

Actually the games are freaking fun! They are relaxed, easy parking, not super crowded, and usually great food and beer at the parks.
The ONLY warning I have heard this year is from one of my sisters friends who works for the Angels. Their games are selling like mad if not sold out... freaking Albert Pujols! I will be going to Angels, Dbacks, and some Dodgers games. I have a buddy on the Dodgers Triple-A and gotta go watch him play. |
Back at the hotel which kinna sux but it was cheap . Had a blast at the practice and inter squad game so cool to see the players up close. Got a couple autographs hoping to get some more of the ones I really want in the coming days. Now trying to decide what to do with the rest of the day. Anything fun to do at night ? Not really interested in clubs or bars.

It's at Loop 101 and Glendale Ave, right across the street from Cabelas. |
