Caught this this morning in mid Georgia using a cricket fishing for bream. Is this a small mouth bass?

I just saw where the state record was only a little over two pounds. That one right there in the picture was probably three quarters of a pound so I guess it was a pretty good size fish.
They must swim in schools also. Cause we caugh two back to back in the same spot then we didn't catch any more. What's the best way to fry em up? Should they be fillet up like a regular crappie or just lop off the head and pan-fried like a bream? |

Fillet like a bluegill (watch out for the dorsal spines, they will get you). Batter & deep-fry. They do tend to travel in schools, try minnows if you really want to catch them. I've even caught them in the 'Hooch using worms.
Back in my Yankee days in Ohio, every Friday there would be perch fries - some good eating.
