We have the technology.......................So for ye of little faith...in no particular order..

MP7 + dot sight at top, with MP5SD (suppressor) this reduced the recoil and noise to virtually nil, rather like a rimmie. Great in semi-auto, but would be shite in a straight pull so don't even go there

SA80 with SUSAT and 9mm Browning Hi-Power. There for nostalgic reasons, but these are what the team will actually shoot with, not all the gucci HK toys (they wish!)

Dear Santa.........HK 416 (5.56mm) HK's cunning scheme to sell the M4 back to America. Having shot both I've got to say this is a winner Mr President...

HK Rep trying to defeat RN-S in a 30 round, 100, 200 & 300metre ETR comp..

HK 417 (7.62mm) and the object of my particular interest. We didn't have the opportunity to shoot precision but the Marines who had played with it assured me it groups very well out to 300m out of that 12, yes twelve inch barrel. This one is wearing an Aimpoint with a magnifier which I personally didn't like as I found it dulled the sight picture. Also I don't like dots beyond 100m, but that's just me..

RN-S rising to the challenge and shooting a clear round 30 out of 30. Note the S&B shortdot loaned by himself, and proved an awesome combination. One of the young Marines was able to consistently knock down Fig 11's at 300m, standing unsupported, with this so that it almost became tedious..

RN-S again, so cool that for the last ten rounds he didn't even bother looking..James Bond was a Royal Navy man you know

MP7 with Aimpoint. Would make a good rabbit gun, actually it was very pleasant to shoot, very light and was never intended as a replacement for the MP5. The aforementioned young Marine was able to knock down Fig 11's at 300m with this after a couple of sighters......

Another Navy man doing it properly with the HK417

HK416 with Eotech and VFG. Very nice again, but I preferred the Shortdot. The Eotech was co-witnessed with the irons but that was too cluttered for me so I switched it off and just used the irons. Still shot fine out to the 300m mark

100yards pistol challenge....shot with the 9mm P30 SA. Only a 3" barrel and damned impressive. Needs the combat trigger though so you don't have to make an appointment for the bang..

RN-S doing some work..

Grenade Machine Gun launcher, for delivering cans of Wife Beater to troops who can't be arsed to leave their slit trench...

Aforementioned MP7 in use, 12 different types of ammo available depending on how cross you are..

A man with a plan............scary one by the looks of it.........

HK417 in the background with a PSG-1 in the foregorund. Both 7.62mm. The 417 is also available in 16" & 20" accurised barrels. I know which one I'd pick..

..and I just keep coming back to this one........

Our very own RN-Submariner was the best rifle shot of the day. No pic of the best pistol shot because he was taking these pics...ahem! Sorry, no belt fed pics as I couldn't hang on to the GPMG or the MG4 and the camera at the same time

Ever thought of joining the HRA?
You could earn 178 World Tour points for that

Can you please provide some captions for those of us on the northern fringes of civilisation who are unfamiliar with all of this splendid hardware?

I recognise some of the classics but others are new to me and I suspect to a few others as well.

Yes..............keep your eyes open when it goes bang and don't scream like a girl................
...actually I could make excuses like there was in fact a strong ,gusting crosswind and the first stage trigger pull is so long you can walk it but that would be feeble. I know I was conscious of one mistake on trigger release, one on grip and the other just plain missed...

Not that simple actually. Whilst having fun I do not deny, I was actually there in my professional capacity. Yes these Hk's are rather good. they also had an example from their Budget Range in the G36, which I am well acquainted with but not so impressed.......

Yes, we really should have waited for the HK416, and we really could use the HK417. Will we get it? Probably not for what I would like and we'll still put a 50 year old Pecar on it.......................

It is Ash Vale Ranges on the east side of Aldershot. Excellent facility.

I did actually take more pics, these are just the highlights........

By all means post it, I'm not fussed about the credit. I tried to put it in the HK Forum but failed miserably....
