I know some of you guys here do fantasy football.  Being a Chiefs fan, I sort of stopped enjoying football for several years until I got invited to join a local league where we play for a small amount of cash each year.  That definitely got me enjoying pro football again, since I have a reason to cheer for players and teams again while the Chiefs are in year 13 of their rebuilding decade.

I'm going to ruin everyone else's day: I started Manning.

At this rate, I might as well retire as champion early.

Chiefs fan here also been one since the late 80's.  Chiefs are the most improved team in the league this year.  They are not the same team that has gone 2-14 or so for the last several years.  I'm thinking 10-6 this year(as long as we don't get bit by the injury bug) maybe a wild card play off spot.  Unfortunately Denver looks like the best team in the league this year.

If you are a chiefs fan and have quit watching because they have sucked for so long this would be a good year to start watching again!

I'm a Patriots fan (by birth - not bandwagon). I'm not to impressed after this past Sunday's performance against the bills. I still can't believe they let Welker go.

I have Adrian Peterson and Reggie Bush #1 &#2  RB so far and still going to get beat cause of Manning.  I think it was a mistake to start Cam Newton instead of Eli.  That lost me 16 pts, cause it was against my Cowboys.

Move over, Law and Order, ESPN just showed the most graphic rape on television last night.... and I'm a Redkins fan.

Was actually hoping to see Kirk Cousins in the game in the 2nd half. Turns out when RGIII can't run, he's not that great of a QB.... and when RGIII can't run and Morris is the only ground threat, he's not that great of a RB.

Balls.

Hey hurtback...the Lions played pretty well this weekend and at least they won.  I have a friend that I grew up with who played for the Lions for a number of years (Dennis Gibson), if you're in the Des Moines area you should go check out his place in Johnston called Encore Pizza.

I don't mean to gloat... but me and Orange Jesus are leading my league (16 team) in every conceivable metric right now.

I was watching the Red Zone TD montage yesterday, could have sworn every third or fourth TD was on my team.

Moved up from KC about a year ago. I wear Red every Friday of football season, and on game days. Even last year when we sucked ass.

I've been saying we're going at least 2nd round of playoffs for about 5 years now. Looks like I'm finally right.

Go Chiefs!

Two years ago I didn't get to watch any games because they were never on TV so last year I got the sunday ticket.  I watched every game of that 2-14 season even though sometimes after half time the games were such a blow out I didn't pay full attention to the last part of the games...lol.

I watch all of the off season stuff...free agency from the moment it opens...nfl combine...nfl draft...off season OTA's...training camp...every Chiefs preseason game...etc...I could tell by the middle of training camp this was going to be a different season.  The unity and confidence was really starting to show.

I'm a huge fan of great Defense so I'm loving this Chiefs defense this year!

Still undefeated in my league.  Outscoring my opponents by an average 47 points, too.  League high score 3/5 weeks.

Probably won't last, but it's nice being on top.

I've been rooting for them my whole life. No matter how bad we are, I really miss the hometown support in KC during football season. We are fanatics down there, and unlike other stadiums (Oakland), if you're a fan of whoever we're playing, we're still nice to you inside and outside the stadium. Opposing teams fans are more than welcome at a Chiefs tailgate.

They are having some people in to test the dB levels in the stadium this sunday.  They are going to try and break the decibel record for any sports stadium which is something like 136 dB...lol.

I was at the Monday night game a couple years ago when we beat San Diego in overtime.

Loudest game I've ever been too... it was crazy.

6-0 and set the world record for loudest crowd at a sports stadium.  Rumors are floating around now about getting Tony Gonzalez back.  Chiefs have lost their first 3 tight ends and have been struggling a bit on offense because of it.  Falcons are looking terrible this year and it is Tony G's last season.  Both teams are denying any trade talks.

I'm happy for the Chiefs but I can't help but feel that they're leaning too heavily on their defense to win games.  That won't work against Orange Jesus and crew.

If you watch the player interviews and coaches press conferences they are well aware of it.  Don't underestimate the impact of pressuring the QB.  Of all the elite QB's Peyton struggles the most against pressure.  If you can pressure him he looks average at best that is why he has struggled against good defensive teams in the playoffs throughout his career.  The Chiefs happen to have the best pass rushing defense this year and are on pace to be one of the greatest defenses ever.  Also with the emergence of rookie CB Cooper being able to play one on one on the outside it allows Brandon Flowers (when healthy) to move into the slot where he matches up very well with guys like Wes Welker.  It could be an epic battle if the Chiefs are able to get healthy and take care of business over the next 4 weeks leading up to the game with the Broncos.

Totally agree that Orange Jesus struggles under pressure, but right now "struggling" for the Broncos is a 35 point effort.

The Chiefs have yet to offensively hit the low mark of the Broncos this year (35 points.)

it will be an interesting couple of games, to say the least.

I don't see them scoring 35 against the Chiefs, but first thing first the Texans aren't to be overlooked.  Early in the season the Texans were picked to compete with Denver for the best team in the AFC.  They have a great defense and good running game.  It will be another tough defensive struggle at Arrowhead this week.  Good news is that Fasano plans to give it a go at TE even though he isn't 100%.

I just hope they can stay healthy.

turned my fantasy league around and i'm rocking it now...  ;)

the chiefs do have a great d, but they can't muster offensive might.  they also can't come back offensively if far behind.  hell, they can't get ahead to begin with offensively.  they're no match for the broncos, but it'll probably be a good game to watch.  yes, peyton isn't always the best under strain.  not like tom brady can be, as we all saw this weekend, but peyton has never played better, so you can't take that away from the guy.  while i'm not a broncos fan, i'm not sure why so many people are hating on the guy...  his team leadership on and off the field has nearly no comparison.  i enjoy watching him actually run an offense.  he visualizes the impending d attack as well or better than anyone i've watched play...  pretty impressive...

Don't mistake my love of the Chiefs as "hating" on Peyton.  I will admit the Broncos are clearly the best team in football right now until proven otherwise.  I will also admit that anyone that wouldn't have the Broncos favored to win a game against the Chiefs is crazy.  I would also say the Peyton is one of the greatest QB's of all time and 'if" he could win a couple more superbowls would in my opinion be the greatest of all time.  At the same time anyone that says the Chiefs with the best defense in the league and on pace to be in consideration for one of the best defenses of all time doesn't have a chance in the game is crazy.

In the old days the saying was "defense wins championships".  Now there have been rule changes that give offenses more of an edge today because of safety concerns and the general publics desire for more scoring which changes things a bit.  I will give you just a few examples from recent history of teams with great defenses and poor offenses that have won super bowls.

2001 Baltimore Ravens with Trent Dilfer at QB.
2003 Tampa Bay Buccaneers
2006 Pittsburgh Steelers with a young Big Ben.  Ben is an elite QB now in my opinion, but at that time their defense carried the team and won despite having him at QB.
2008 New York Giants beat the previously unbeaten Patriots who had all the offensive records that the Broncos may possibly beat this year and held them to only 14 points.  With Eli at QB and a couple great WR's they certainly were not a poor offense, but they weren't elite either.

Alex Smith has proven he can win games he took San Fran to the championship and Jamaal Charles is as good a back as anyone in the league.

I'm a pretty hard core Chiefs fan, but you don't hear me calling other teams or players names even when they make fun of us.  I respect all opponents.  I honestly feel the Broncos will win the first meeting in Denver, but I think the Chiefs have a lot more of a chance than everyone is giving them.  I also believe the Chiefs will win the second meeting at Arrowhead.  Insane pass rush on pace to break the all time number of team sacks in a season held by the 85 Bears as well as that loud home town crowd that makes it very difficult to change plays or protections at the line equals the most difficult game of the season for Peyton.

***interesting fact for the day:  The Chiefs or Chefs as they are commonly called are on pace to break the sack record set by the 85 Bears.  The defensive coordinator of those Bears was Buddy Ryan.  The Chiefs defense is currently coached by Bob Sutton who spent many years with Rex Ryan and is using the "Ryan" defense with the Chiefs.  Andy Reid tried to get Bob Sutton when he was with the Eagles, but Rex wouldn't let him out of his contract with the Jets because he knew how good he was.  Bob's contract was up this offseason at just the right time as Andy was hired by the Chiefs and looking for a defensive coordinator.

Regardless of what happens between the Chiefs and Bronco's I won't let anyone forget I predicted this was the year they get it going. I predicted a 10-6 record and a trip to the playoffs as a wild card with Denver winning the AFC west before the season started.  Everyone I talked to said I was a fool and the Chiefs would be terrible.
