I present ... My first 5.56!

Bushmaster M4-A3

I talked to my buddy that wanted to sell the Stag.  He was able to smooth everything over wiith his wife
so he decided to keep the gun.  Being that I had the money and already considered it spent, I spent the better
part of the last two days calling and checking out local stores.  I found the one I liked, and I jumped in with
both feet! I know, there is a paper trail, but I'm ok with it (for now)...

Glad to see a wannabe Mill Creation that is armed with a good rifle.

You spent so much money on the rifle that you couldn't afford the focus option on that digital camera?

Now you need ammunition, magazines, and practice.

No, I was trying to keep the dogs away from the coffee table long enough to snap the picture.  They were trying to  figure out what the hell it was!  I got ammo 250 to take to the LCR on Saturday, I figure that is a good start.  Have two mags.  I know I'll need more of both!

250 rounds don't last most 5 min.

Thanks Dino...    I was afraid someone was going to say that.
Where is a decent place to get ammo, besides the Fun show?

wellllllllll the fun show wasn't too good The Outdoor marksman sent me a flyer for HSM 55 gr for 4.89 box of 20. I would say STAY AWAY FROM WOLF. Probably get 10 guys telling you it runs fine, but I don't like steel on steel in my AR's. IM idnbound.

Head over to GI Joes and see if they have anything on sale. I can make 250 rounds last for years, but then it is just the box's at the bottom of the 10,000 rounds on top of it!

I was at GI's in Fedway Sat, no joy on 223 at that store. (just the remington green box) at 75 cents a round.

Well, 250 rounds will last you longer than most of us, mainly because you have to reload your mags! More ammo is a must have, does Dan and Mary have any left?

I THINK I saw a half case of Federal M855 in there today....  I could be lying about the brand or type as I wasn't really paying attention to it as much as the 30-06.

Yes, the key is to have a limited number of magazines.  And don't get no fancy mag loader either.  LCR will distort your perception of "a lot of ammo".  I know I was altered by my first LCR...

Argg, EBRD is back. Such a nice rifle.
Yes, I know, I can't join the support group since I don't drink.

I've got it figured out.  I'm getting an extra few hundred.  Someone here (He will remain anonymous unless he wants to pipe up) is a VERY good person to an AR and LCR newbie.  I'm going to owe him a beer or two for sure!

I feel "light" if I go to LCR with less than 2k rounds.

Ehhh, it's my first time, and I'll only be there Saturday.  I'd like to meet a few people, chat, figure out what it's all about, etc.. And get some shooting in for sure!  I'll save the bumpfire lessons for the Summer session!

Uh-huh, riiight...

You'll see other folks bumping and dumping and you'll think that looks pretty easy and you'll try it and it'll work and you'll get a silly grin and do it some more... And you'll burn all your ammo and you'll be going around to other guys trying to buy their ammo like a crack ho but ammo is worth more than money at LCR and you'll have to start drinking early but you're just there for Saturday and you'll get a DWI on the way home and end up in jail with a 350 lb Samoan pre-op tranny.

Better to just bring more ammo.

30 rounds with my ak or ar pistol and he'll wish he'd brought more ammo.

I subscribe to 1GR's ideology for the LCR shoots. I think I put about 30 rounds down range between the last two LCRs I was at.

Don't let 'em rattle ya C&7. 1GR and I haven't shot 250 rounds between the two of us at all the LCRs put together.

For me, LCR is more about smoke and noise than it's about marksmanship.

Marksmanship is better developed at conventional shooting ranges.

The invitation is open anytime, to anyone who's ready to convert. I'll find you a mentor even. Kinda like the big brother program, 'cept for misguided gun-nuts.

Nah, I'll be just fine. I grew up a Fudd (well my dad was), shooting bolt action rifles and double barrel shotguns. It's why I'm excited for my AR.  I'm up to 550 rounds now and that's it for me.  Plus I only have two mags, my damn thumb is going to fall off before I can get through that much. And I'm going to bring a few of my pistols with a few hundred rounds there as well.  I'll be just fine...

... and to avoid added post count just to repond:

OdT... Nothing rattles me that much, especially here.  It's an internet bulletin board, I don't take anything personally and I have a pretty thick skin.

Mace ... You are a SICK individual.  I liked your story, that's the kind of crap I make up on the fly!

PCR ... Don't make comments like that, I'll take you up on trying an AK or pistol.  I was wondering if people are pretty cool about that type of stuff.  I saw your vids from past LCRs that there have been some .50's and other interesting arms. For the most part if you offer a few bucks for the spent ammo, offer to use your own ammo, or bribe with alcohol, is the group pretty cool about it?

You need a LULA for your thumb

Once you get to know us in person, this will no longer be "just an internet bulliten board"

Most people are VERY generous with their guns and ammo.

Oh, how thick are your eyebrows?

I think the best thing about the LCR's (other than the people) is the story's told at the campfire. That one was my favorite.

I brought my own ammo, and everyone I asked let me shoot their guns.  I didn't even get asked to clean a single one!
