It's really getting out of hand. Any number of reasons as to why the wait is so long now depending on who you talk to.
Example: You order something through your dealer. It's 3/4 months for their form 3 to clear. Form 3 clearing does not mean the manufacturer has it in hand, this has been adding a few more weeks. Once it get's to your dealer, now comes the form 4 which was taking 6 months but has been inching up. Some reports even up to 9 months. It's not a stretch to see it hitting 12 months in the near future. If thinking about getting your first stamp or adding to the collection. Be prepared for the wait. Good things comes to those that wait. Just doesn't make it any easier. |
| Are you saying form 3s are taking 3 to 4 months? Because that is not true. They normally are around a month. And form 4s as of today are taking right at 6 months. I just got the correction letter back on th form 4 I mailed in January. If I wouldn't have messed something up I would have my can already. |

Form 3 at 3/4 months????holy shit who did you piss off? Hope nobody. On the fflonly forum its a hot topic the long waits. I have some form 3's filed on 4/11 cleared on 6/21. The 3's filed on 4/22 has not cleared yet. Just because it cleared does not mean you have the product. Some of my customers are getting close to the 6 month mark on their wait. Some have a trust others do not, the wait is still long. |

They have a new efile that has come online. Supposed to speed things up but few can get it to work. Some say it was put in by the lowest bidder and is not up to date. I'm not good on computer stuff so I don't know.
Then the passing the buck on the Form 4's saying FBI has been swamped with fingerprint cards and can't keep up. I do have a feeling the waits are only going to grow under the present administration. OT: I wish for suppressors, it would just be 4473 and the $200.00 tax. Could collect at point of sale and send it in monthly or quarterly like sales tax. This would settle the backlog problem, and would speed up the FA approval time. |
