I sent my Form 4 off June 2nd, I think.  I just called today and my Form 4 went "pending" June 28th.  The woman on the line said that it is about 4 months now until approval.  Realistically, how much more time am I looking at?

My last one was around 51 days.

I sent one in May 5th and it went pending May 24th............I hope it won't be 4 months

ETA: What ya getting?

I'm getting an Osprey45.

Really?  4 Months?

I looked up some From 4's on a NFA tracker website and it looks like 1 to 2 months from the pending date.  Am I reading it wrong?

Things might change come July 1 with the new examiner assignments.

My last Form 4 took went pending 3/11 and was approved 6/16

My form was assigned to Ann Feltner, however the form was signed by Suzanne Santamaria which come July 1 all forms from Georgia will be assigned to her.  Your form could take 1 month or 5, best just to forget about it until it arrives.

Each NFA purchase should come with a prescription for at least some Valium.

Your dealer should have a clue how long forms are taking.  They should be who you ask.  If they don't have a clue, get another dealer.  But even they can't predict the future.

The NFA game is a patience game.  You can read all the websites you want, ask all the people you want, call the ATF every other day, etc.  Nothing will make the forms show up any faster.  If they told you four months, expect that.  If it comes sooner, awesome!     It might take longer than four months though.

I just had three come back for me and they all took almost four months.  During that time I had a buddy get his forms back in just over two months.  There is no scientific way of figuring out when yours will show up.  All you can do is guess.

Keep in mind the NFA folks are going through a re-structuring.  So, going forward there is no telling.  Things could get faster or they could slow down.  No telling.

I hope you understand I'm not trying to be a jerk about it.  All you are going to do by asking people how long their forms took is drive yourself a little crazy.  Just put it out of your mind.  Or come shoot mine while you are waiting...

The BEST thing you can do is wait exactly FOUR weeks from the time you submitted the forms then go buy another NFA item.  Four weeks after that buy another.  Keep doing it.  It is called "laddering" in economics.  The same principle applies here...every month you'll get something new.  So, instead of worrying how long things will take you can now go through life expecting at least something every month.  Think how much happier you'd be!!!

Mark, your a dick.

You just had to go make the fever worse by posting up pictures of your toys!  I've been purposely avoiding visiting mine and shooting it because I wanted to save the experience.  Its my first suppressor!  My dealer was getting returns in 2 months, but then they slid to 3 months.  I hadn't considered the restructuring.  Lord knows now.

Your a Jerk Mark!  Thanks for posting htose pictures.

On a serious note, if anybody knows the game, its gonna be you.  I appreciate the reply and the info.  I wish I had the money in the past to purchase a can from you!

But as to laddering my purchases...

...the crack you are smoking must be cheaper! LOL

Hey John, whatcha doing Saturday? If you're jonesing that badly I'll let you come over and play with some toys. Including yours.

Then we can talk about this laddering concept. I kinda like that idea. I can see a 7.62 in you future.

And there you have it.  A true crack dealer.

Go visit Chris and put a deposit on something else.  Trust me, you'll feel better!!!

What pisses me off is that with the instant check technology, a NFA check could be instant. There's no reason you couldn't go to your dealer, plop down your cash and $200 tax and have a stamp approved and printed out in minutes.

No, what REALLY pisses me off is that we shouldn't even have to jump through all these hoops.

i am working this weekend.  booooooo!  i can see getting something in the near future, but its not going to be a .30 cal can.  i've got two .22 host ready to go.  but before i get to that, i need to save up money for a plane ticket to ireland to visit my parents, and then i want to build a 300 blackout sbr to use with my osprey45.  as far as coming over and testing my opsrey45 goes, i'm going to make myself wait to get to play with it!  its like anticipating opening your presents on christmas morning (even though i know what i'm getting, and i bought it for myself)!

One of mine was approved today.
2 months from check cashed to approved.    Of course now I sweat when it gets mailed to my dealer and then when my dealer gets around to calling me.
