Just curious to see if any of the HTF guys are participating/working LDAC (Leaders Development and Assesment Course) at Ft. Lewis this summer. If any of you are opfor when i yell the supper secret WAHTF password thats the signal for you to surrender and turn on the other opfor

I have to report july 10th and ill be there through Aug 11, for those that have no clue what it is: LDAC. The short version being its where all 3500 or so junior level cadets from around the country go to find out if they can cut it as 2nd LTs in the army.

THis weather should make it interesting

I played opfor for the cadets a few years ago. Talk about a sham of training!! Two weeks in the field is their basic training?!? And it's EASY!! Bitches do it!!
Ah well, I guess a BA is still worth something to the Army.

The only way you'd get me to go easy on a cadidiot would be to throw me a couple of wads of unmarked, non-sequentially-numbered $20 bills.

"Abuse the kay-dets, do it for the troops..."

By "wads", you mean more than one 463L pallet configured for C-5 / C-17 at maximum dimensions, right?

I'm just wondering how the Hell someone who isn't a Combat Leader yet has that Title?

You mean this absolutely middle of the road eminently survivable weather? If it was pouring rain I might feel sorry for you but cmon.....86 degrees does not count as harsh by any stretch of the imagination.

This HTF definitely needs more Private Murphy.

So, this is the short thing that kids wanting to get into ROTC at the Junior level without doing the first two years, right?  Not actual "summer camp"?  Or something else entirely?

Gah, cadet lane saftey at warrior forge was my first assignment at fort lewis last year. Nothing more disheartening then a bunch of college kids laying on the ground at the confidence (rope sliding) course saying they had heat stroke....in 50 degree weather.

And I had to pick them up and put em in the TMP and take em to the Medics.

The only other irritating thing is saluting a real officer when theres cadets around....and they ALL FUCKING salute. I never know how to politely ask for my salutes back.

Also for the record, every single awesome LT ive ever come across was enlisted USMC.

I had several Lieutenants who were pretty good, most of them were prior enlisted, but there were a couple who weren't.  One was West Point, and one was ROTC.
The absolute worst I ever had was prior enlisted OCS.

Never had one like this, though:

Howard Taylor's web comic Schlock Mercenary.

I know... it really is pathetic even more so when you see how bad some of the cadets can be and still pass. Its even easier depending on if for example you want to be a nurse or if you're female...

It could hit a 100 here and i wouldn't be to concerned having spent enough time on the east coast training in the humidity( i dont know why anyone actually likes living there) but like others have commented there will be plenty of idiots dropping from heat injuries making it tougher for everyone else.(and no one is actually wearing body armor and will likely be in the shade...)

Had to choose some name and the fact that i signed up during a time of war and the national guard company i am a part of has deployed once as a unit and individuals have been deployed two or three times, i think its safe to say ill be in combat soon enough. I apologize if my internet screen name seems presumptuous.

Though I appreciate your desire, your screen name is quite "presumptuous" to the point that it's offensive.

You have not seen combat and you have not led troops, therefore you are NOT a Combat Leader, you are a wanna be.

If I've missed some pertinent information please fill in the blanks.

There are people on this board that ARE proven Combat Leaders; don't presume anything.

Have a nice day

Don't worry about it.  ROTC Advanced Camp is less for the training received and more for the identification of leadership potential (regardless of what you think of that process).  The real training comes at the officer's branch basic course.

Some second lieutenants make it, some don't.  Some privates make it, some don't.

As I remember, my own ROTC Advanced Camp at North Fort Lewis (summer 1975) wasn't all that bad.  I do remember a few RANGER tabbed E4s who were full of themselves and laid a lot of crap on a few cadets.  Their justice wasn't very just.  ...but it wasn't me, and that was a long time ago, about six promotions ago.

I was never posted to Fort Lewis but seemed to go TDY there often.  At least once a year.  Nice place but my wife didn't like it.  She wanted to go somewhere we'd never been before.  We decided to put Fort Knox as number one on my dream sheet.  I'm sure Officer Assignments giggled over that, and they gave it to me very quickly!  I actually liked the place, mostly because I didn't have to attend basic training there!
