It's so close I can taste it.  Finally, after almost five years stuck behind enemy lines here in NYistan, I will be a free man come Monday.  I'm packing up the wife, kid, dogs, safes, ammo fort, etc. and heading west... all the fucking way west, to Ft. Lewis, WA.  I've been on orders there since March, but held off on the celebrating until now for fear of provoking Murphy into fucking with my plans.  But alas, the time has come to bid a fond "FUCK YOU" to this sorry-ass state and it's completely retarded libtard nanny-state mentality gov't. Most of my family (and in-laws) still reside here, in hell, so I can't say I'll "never" be coming back.  I made that mistake the last time I "escaped"... after being born and raised in NNY for 20-some years, I broke out after college and was spoiled in the delightful freedom of a truly red southern state (GA) for five years.  Unfortunatley, I had vowed (foolishly) to "never return" to the retardedness of NYistan, only to have Murphy laugh in my face and cut me orders back to Ft. Drum.

So this time I'm holding my tongue and simply saying "good riddance" and taking my money and tax dollars with me.  The house is under contract, and as soon a that's closed I'll have paid my last tax dollar to fund the completely piss-poor fiscal irresponsibilities of this state gov't.  I'm keeping my HOR (home of record) and residency in NY for now simply because I'm not going to forfeit my pistol license (unrestricted) when Murphy could rear his ugly head again in a few years and send me back here.  I don't have to pay income tax if I'm stationed outside the state, and I will be looking into switching my DMV stuff to WA once I get there.

The obligatory off-loading of all pre-ban stuff to some poor bastard who's still stuck here in hell has already occured.  Everything I had was given to my buddy who lives in my hometown, and likley will forever. (Can't say no to a mortgage-free 1200 acre farm.)   So sorry, no "dibs on prebans" fellas. Don't worry, there wasn't much.  Lost all my "evil" guns and mags in a tragic boating accident right before I moved back to NY anyway.  Guess it's time for a "scuba" trip to see if I can salvage them.

I'll keep my memberships in the pro-2A organizations here in NY current as long as I've still got family living here (which is gonna be awhile).  I know it's a long, hard fight ahead to get our rights back here, and I know progress is slowly being made... but I'm just not that patient.  Spent too much of my life already on foreign soil protecting my Country and Constitution to watch my rights get trampled on by the libtards in this state any longer.  I know WA isn't the last of milk and honey (plently of dirty, nasty hippy/enviro-freak/libtards there too)... but it's a far shade free-er than NY.  I've already put aside the $$ to setup a trust and start the paperwork for a few "muzzle accessories" once I get there.

To those of you I've had the pleasure of meeting in person... it was an honor and I'm glad to know you.  To the rest of you lunatics... some of you will lose tolerance and escape like I am doing, and some of you are resolute enough to stay on and keeping fighting the good fight and I applaud you for it.  Any of you end up in the greater Ft. Lewis area and need anything, do't hesitate to drop me an IM or email.

So, one last time... FUCK NY and FUCK BHO.  Peace bitches, I'm out...

(Standing by for "CSB" and "Well, Bye" pics...)

How does that work?  I assume you will be voting via absentee ballot in NY otherwise how can you be a resident here and in Washington State.

Yeah, it works like that.  Military absentee ballot at election time.  I won't be a voting resident in WA state... even if I buy property there.  When it comes time to settle down permanently (got another 11 to go to hit my 20-and-out), I'll reinquish my NY residency once and for all.

Not up here he won't......no such thing as REAL pizza, bagels, and Italian Food.

Well Brian, we're going to miss you, and if I had my way I'd stow away in the moving van, but now isn't the time for us to move.....yet.

As for your handgun licenses: The County doesn't know or track your movements unless they're actively looking for you; certainly there are a lot of soldiers that obtain licenses, move, and come back.  Keep in mind that Drum is like Korea: soon as you say "never" you'll come up on levy.

"Ft. Drum; the Army's best kept secret." (that's because when soldiers find out about it they do everything they can to keep from being sent here)

Good luck, don't forget your brothers behind the lines.

You are correct Sir...  my homeade pizza is far better.  Bagels... meh.  Italian food... homecooked is stilll better.  This is a far cry from the (very few) niceties of "city life".  The poutine, the Hoffman's and Glaziers hotdogs and Crogan bolgona I will miss though.  Good thing I know a few fine country stores that will ship those tasty treats anywhere CONUS for me.

Glenn, my pistol license is from Franklin County... where my HOR is.  I already let the nice ladies in the office there know I'm moving and all they had to say was "good luck and thank you".  This isn't the first time I've "fled" this state since getting my license.  There is plently of room in the moving truck... and I need someone to watch over my ammo fort... feel free to stow away.  There's plenty of MREs to eat in there!

I won't forget you guys... if I run across any sweet pre-ban deals, I'll sell them at cost to someone behind enemy lines just to get more EBRs inside the state borders. (legally, of course)

To those of us who've had to spend most of our Guard careers training at Drum a few times  a year its no secret. Where else outside of maybe Alaska are you expected to qual with your M4 while laying on a slab of ice in January. At least the AD guys only spend a couple of years there before moving on. .We keep going back every few months for 20 years.

Now that they are finally getting serious about tearing down old post its physically changing the most I've seen since they built new post up in the late 80s.

Uncle Sam sent me there in Feb. of '87 (back then we lived in the WWII barracks) and with the exception of a nine month stay in Florida have been here ever since....Took a while, but I'm a vested Federal Employee at SMA.
Freedom is a pseudo concept in NY, if you've ever lived South of the Mason-Dixon then you know what I'm talking about.
