It went from bad to worse. Was around 5:00pm Friday. We don't get many of these in the mountains. Was shot from north side of Fannin County looking back into the mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee (tri-state border). It was a very low rumble that went on for a few minutes before I actually started paying attention to what was going on. Dogs were going crazy. Our flat-coat retriever was panicked and just about beat the door down to get inside. It didn't last but maybe about 6 minutes, then appeared to dissipate. Sent this and a few others to channel 11. A friend of my dad's told him he saw this pic on the news Friday night with my name on it. I missed the broadcast. Had a couple of other friends call me I haven't spoken to in awhile that said they saw it on the news as well. My 10 seconds of fame, I guess.

| My folks have some land and a house where this was shot from. Elevation is approx 2,021 ft MSL, so the storm looks closer than it was. Farthest mountain range on the horizon is about 6.5 miles away. I measured it by GPS in a Piper Cherokee a couple of years ago. |

Awesome pics. The tornadoes that devastated Tn. hit way too close for comfort, missing my parents my 2 miles. A lady that let's us hunt on her farm was one of the homes in the path. About 150 yds wide for 6 miles......eliminated anything and everything in it's path. |
