To All Loyal Customers And Friends, Unfortunately Do To Circumstances Beyond Our Control Assault Technologies Is Closed. Over The Last 2 Years We Have Experienced Government Abuse, Employee Embezzlement, And 2 Burglaries'. While Many Businesses Can Withstand 1 Attack And Continue, We Simply Aren't Strong Enough To Withstand All 3 Attacks At The Same Time. As Many Of You Loyal Customers Know, We Found Out Our Manager Was Embezzling Thousands Of Dollars From The Company By Selling Items And Never Putting That Money In The Register. We Contacted The Local Sheriff's Department And They Said They Were Going To Arrest Him And Simply Never Did. Even Though He Was Caught In The Very Act. We Have 5 Sworn Testimonies From Customers Who Witnessed Him Not Ring Up The Sale And Put The Cash In His Pocket. The Amounts Involved Are Huge, Yet Our Local Sheriff's Department Did Nothing, Later ATF Decided To Play Games With Us Over This Very Same Manager, Most Of You Know That Crap. Then On September 11th Last Year, We had Our Biggest Burglary Yet. Over $7000 In Damage And $17,000 In Guns. What Did ATF Do To Get The Bad Guys Off The Streets? Not One Damn Thing (We Can Prove That). They Didn't Care About These Repeat Felons Who Were Later Caught By A Hard Working Local Detective. They Confessed To Stealing The Weapons Including A CLASS III Weapon, The Weapons Were Never Recovered, Except For The 2 Recovered Now In Other Gang Members Crimes, But Again ATF Did Nothing. Well They Did Do Something, They Used It As A Way To Harass Us Once Again, By Coming In And Demanding An Audit Of Our Books For The Second Time In 4 Months. This Time They Spent Over 3 Months Sitting In Our Showroom, Copying Hundreds Of 4473's Asking Stuff Like, "This Guy Bought A Lot Of Guns, Is That Normal For Your Customers?" And "Wow I Can't Believe That This Small Business Sold This Many Guns In Just 1 Year", Of Course Every Other Customer Who Came In Left Just As Fast Without Buying Anything, Because We All Know That Even The Most Honest Gun Owner Doesn't Like The ATF Seeing Them Buy A Gun. When We Contacted ATF About The Convicted Felons Confessing To The Burglary, They Said, "The Only Way They Will Charge These 2 Previously Convicted Felons, 1 For Armed Robbery, Was "If We Get Our Lawyer To File With Federal Court To Get The Judge To Order Them To Charge Them." Ya, There's Some More Money We Already Don't Have They Want Us To Spend. Anyway, Between The Embezzled Money, The Federal BS Case, The Burglaries', And The 3 Months Of ATF Chasing Away Sales, We Have Gone Broke. We Are Out Of Business. We Don't Ask For Your Pity Or For You To Feel Bad For Us, Just Your Prayers. As Our Close Customers Know We Were A Hard Working Family Owned Business, That Tried Hard. Some People Loved Us And Some Hated Us, But Know One Can Ever Say We Didn't Always Do Our Best To Fix Problem And Try To Make Everyone Happy. And To Those Of You Who Are Glad We Are Gone, I Hope You Enjoy Your Higher Prices You Will Be Paying For Guns, For Years The Owners Of ALL Of Our Competitors Have Been Begging Us To Raise Our Prices On Guns Because They Didn't Want To Keep Trying To Keep Up With Our 10% Mark Up - They Wanted A Minimum Of At Least 35% - 45% Mark Up. Well, Now They Can Charge You As Much As They Want. The Company Who Took Over Our Old Store Was Concerned And Nice Enough To Let Us Put This Message Out On There Web Page Until They Get There Site Up And Running. While They Don't Carry Firearms They Do Have A Lot Of Cool Accessories For Your Guns, Plus Tactical Gear And Molle Gear So As A Favor To Us, Give Them A Try. They Were Even Nice Enough To Hired Some Of Our Old Staff. God Bless, Owners / Staff Assault Technologies |

Knowing Dan personally and seeing what the ATF did to him, his life, and his business makes me have no faith in our federal gov't. For those of you who want to kick him in the nuts while he's down...may the ATF give you 10% the hassle thay gave him. Maybe then you'll understand some of the crap FFL's go thru. DL3 |
I think it was $2895....only because I drooled over it every time I went in there. I was just not that crazy to pay it. Well at least we know now why they were never open. Wonder if Dan will still attend the shows and get rid of the rest of the stuff. |
![]() Ok sure whatever you say. Cya ...

It still sucks though. Any decent gun shop going down makes me wanna cry. If they were doing something illegal ok but otherwise it sounds like the friendly neighborhood harrasment squad. Personally, I think it sucks. They may not have always had rock bottom prices but many times they were the only ones who had anything decent at local gun shows. R.I.P. A.T.

It sounds like there were illegal incidents occuring within the business. I think it is safe to say if incidents start occuring at your business you are going to start lifting yourself into the spotlight and inviting multiple people into your life that you might not want there. |

I remember a couple of years back they had a Century FAL hanging on the wall. I believe the price tag said $625. If I recall correctly, they were being advertised in Shotgun News at the time by several vendors with prices ranging from $399 to $499. After looking at it I offered them $500 just to see what they would say. They said "no." So I upped it to $550. They still said no. My final offer was for $600 and they turned that down as well. I was in the market for my first FAL at the time and was mildly disappointed they wouldn't accept my offer. ![]() I bought a few mags and drove back to Columbia. When I got home I logged onto the now defunct FAC website and ordered a brand new DSA STG58 for $799. |

Guys on Wilkinson too expensive.. Buy online and Use GunSlinger as your FFL. He is located in Indian Trail (2 miles from the old store front), charges $10 per transaction and really belives in customer service. Never liked the shop on Independence due to the customer indifference and poor gunsmithing with high dollars. |
Good 'ol Dan is getting the very same "personal attention" from ATFE that he arrainged for several innocent people in the past. As I said......ain't karma a bitch? |
+1 after what he did to moses, I only went in there once, While I was in there one of his lackey's sold a 19 yo some 9mm pistol ammo which he knew it was for a pistol, which is illegal. I never went there again. And BTW his prices weren't all that great firepower's prices are about the same or lower. |
Why? Is he going to try to make up stories about me??? Today's life lesson........karma's an un-forgiving, evil bitch. Y'all might want to remember that. |

I have no idea what AT did or didn't do but I see no point in baking a cake just because we have one less gun dealer in the world. At the shows I see some of the meanest, greediest, most belligerent dealers on the planet. If that is the way they choose to be, then I just stay clear. I don't know why our hobby attracts so many of that personality but it sure makes you appreciate the few good ones. However if the good guys were the only venders left I doubt there would be much hope for the future of private firearms ownership for the general public. |
Indeed, sir. Don't ever confuse Dan and Assault Tech with "the Good Guys". Like I said earlier...couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. |

Sounds like Yoda threw up. Course, considering the original post, maybe..... naaa couldn't be. |
| Stopped in there once when I was in town on business and could sum things up real quick - prices were way too high and the two guys working there did not say two words to me (I was the only customer in the store). Even if they were still open, I would NEVER stop in there again!!!! I guess the herd thinned itself this time around...... |

In today's paper: Jury convicts gun dealer of allowing `straw purchases' A federal jury in Charlotte has convicted an Indian Trail man and his gun dealership on nine federal firearms charges. Daniel Dedrick and his dealership, D&C's Assault Technologies, were accused of allowing "straw purchases," in which gun buyers use middlemen to conduct the transactions and complete the required federal forms. Evidence presented at the trial, which ended Friday, showed that Dedrick sold three assault rifles, including two semiautomatic AK-47s, to a convicted felon by having other people complete the required paperwork. The charges were the result of a 15-month investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. A sentencing date has not been set. Dedrick faces up to 25 years in prison and a possible $1 million fine. He will remain free on bond until sentencing, according to the U.S. attorney's office. -- Staff Reports |
Not making judgements here, but how do the feds know the person buying the gun was not the actual buyer?
|
Interviews with the original purchaser and/or possessor, traces if the firearm is recovered somewhere, etc |
Umm, maybe the Feds laid out some bait and he bit? Seems pretty simple to me, but what do I know?
|
That's exactly what they did. They thought he was "dirty", laid out some bait and the mouse bit! Twice! Too bad, so sad......
|
I have no idea they don' like him I have always had good dealings with him in the past. The only thing that I see in this is another big loss to us gun owners and a big win to the anti gun crowd. Now who ever has bought from him in the past will have all their transactions on record by the ATF because now all of Dan's paperwork will go to them. Now where can I find a good fishing boat I can borrow. |
| Myself, my brother and friends of ours have bought several wpns from Assault tech. Not because we liked his business or prices, but that sometimes he was the only table that had what we were looking for. Now our 4473's are in some database. Its inevitable, good thing they dont track shovel and PVC pipe sales. |
|
a former imployee made the sale twice not Dan it's the same employee who ripped hime of of thousands in funds frome gun sale's he sold gun's and kept the cash the guns where trade ins he didn't log them in and resold them and kept the cash Dan had to report this and in turn the ATF went thru his books and records and charged him with every undoted I and and crossed T and what his former employee did he was the FFL holder so he was responsable for there action's Mosses was just lucky and karma will come back on him |
You're right....kinda'. "Moses" WAS lucky......lucky he had a house that he could "second mortgage" to pay for a lawyer. Lucky he's an honest, law abiding guy. Lucky that the US attorney's office dropped all charges when presented with the "evidence" that ATFE had collected (in the form of "anonymous tips" from Dan.....that turned out to be not quite as anonymous as Dan had hoped....whoops!) Yeap.......too bad Dan isn't lucky..... |
From what I understand, Dan told the ATF that moses was building his FAL's into illegal machine-guns. The ATF confiscated Moses's rifles and sent the to be tested, on of the rifles doubled on a soft winchester hunting round. the ATF charged moses and they caused him to spend many many dollars to clea his name and get his rifles back. Never heard what set dan off. I'll pm you with my theroy |
That's pretty much the "Cliff notes" version of the story, but accurate. |
*Glock 23 you think your slow, i'm so slow i thought all this time that you were Dan. hehe , seriously. I must be missing alot of what has gone on cause some of this makes no sense to me. My dad bought some glocks from AT and i went up there with him on numerous occasoins{sp}. I thought the guys up there were great, more than helpful and a lil high on some prices but hey, there was a great shop right down the road and they had the stuff i was interested in. I think it is sad that they are now defunct and that they are having to go through all this trouble. On the same note, the law is the law and if laws were broken people must pay. just too bad it all happened. Edit-Language-u352 |
The Dan and Moses thing goes back many years, and there is more to the story and other unnamed people trying to keep their asses out of the fire as well. |
|
Anywho.....deal with Gunslinger down in Indian Trail. Eric Mann is a terrific guy to deal with. My only experience with AT was when the person at the counter told me that they had to charge sales tax on ATF transfers that were paid for out of state. I believe the exact quote was that the "ATF auditor was followed by the state sales tax guys". It sounded to me like he was pocketing 7% in "sales tax" that he was never paying to the state. |

...

Y'all might want to remember that.
...Whats the scoop on Moses and Dan?
