While in between appointments on a business trip in Orlando, FL I visited a gun shop/range I had never been to before. Living in FL for the last 10 years I know most indoor ranges offer guns for rent. Itching for some trigger time I inquired as to what was available. The usual assortment of wheel guns in 38, 357, 44 etc and a few auto loaders seemed to be all that was on the menu. I really wanted to try something I have not fired before.

Having conveyed this to the help behind the counter, I was ready to just browse and leave when said help presented a full auto UZI. "How about this?" came from the counter. Suddenly it felt like a stupid question!

I limited myself to a single box of 9mm knowing full well that the needle in my vein would be hard to break away from! Any shooting enthusiast would love the state of Florida for their less than restrictive firearms laws.

Hosing down a paper target at about 7 yards put a grin on my face from ear to ear. My first time FA experience, I lost my virginity to an UZI with a folding metal stock! All I could think of is how great it would be to have a full blown M-16A2 capable of 3 shot burst AND RockNRoll!

According to this Orlando shop, to legally posess a FA weapon in FL one must pay the "tax stamp" for said weapon and that is it! (Ofcourse you must have a clean background check) I have seen real M-16's advertised in SGN from $5K to $7500.

Albeit ridiculously priced, does anyone know what the reg's are in NC to legally possess full auto weapons? Furthermore where can said weapons be used?

Hopelessly addicted,

Gunzer

You'll be able to get this info firsthand Sunday, if you show up for the shoot.

I would love to come to the shoot on Sunday but unfortunately I will be on another business trip. I'm in sales and I travel frequently. I do have opportunities to get out and shoot but this weekend coming up is not one of them.

Thank you again for the invite and I look forward to meeting some of you in the future.

Sincerely,

Gunzer

I hate you're gonna miss it!

And to think you had dibs on the first mag through the .50AE AR.

Maybe our host would like some of that.....

You can get a full auto here in NC if your willing to pay the price. An Uzi goes for about 4 1/2- 5Gs. There's a reasonable guy here in Asheville to deal with, Phil Flack, PF custom guns. He’s doing a transfer for me right now that should be finished in early April for a MAC-11. You can get full autos in, I believe 37 of the 50 states (somebody correct me if I’m wrong). There’s a $200.00 tax stamp that goes to the BATF, plus the price of the gun. The cheapest out there are the MAC’s, but it would be tough to find one under $2000.00 now a days. You can also register short barreled rifles, and silencers in NC, I’ve got a silencer coming too, but that one won’t be her until the end of the summer I would think. If you have any more questions on it, I’ll tell you what I know, but there are a lot of people on here that would know more about it than I do. There’s a NFA room under General on this site, I’d check that out.
