Just wanted to pass it along that Albany is having their semi-anual Full-Auto Fest on Saturday December 10th. I'm not associated with the club in any fashion, but No-aim and I went last Spring and I was grinning for the next week. I have heard the claim that it is the largest shoot of theis type on the West Coast. This is officially a machine gun match for those of you that have them. But for the vast amount of time, most of the people who have the firearms will let you shoot them for $$ per mag or belt. There is also a quiet time for the people with cans down there. Dear God does a 50cal move a guy around with a can............ ouch. The guns range from sub guns up to a guy with a 20mm anti-tank gun.... Yes you can shoot it if you want to pay the price. I felt just being near it when it went off was good enough for me. I went down there hoping to do a bit of research on different cans and setups, but was soon lost in the world of MP5s, UMP 45s and MG3s. This time I will focus on the cans and setups.................. MUST FOCUS....... MUST FOCUS..........OHM.......... . Maybe a good time to see how the cans work in a cooler enviroment.

Last time the cost was like $7- $8 dollars if you just want to be a spectator and stay behind the yellow line or $12 -$13 dollars if you want to get up-close and/or shoot the things, not including per mag costs. I have some OK photos from last spring and will add them on in a short while. I have some good ones, but didn't get permission to post.

If class 3 stuff intrests you, then you should get down there, or up there depending on the case. I haven't talked it over with No Aim, but we might have room for one or two more people from the Porland area. Does anyone want to meet for breakfast and convoy?

I would imagine Pat and eric will be down there????

My personal favorite last time was a suppresed M3 "Grease Gun".

I know last time both Pat and Eric were there.

And Patty, in all seriousness, $5 a mag or so of for full auto in the M16 shouldn't be bad. Figure cost of ammo, your extra time cleaning, wear and tear... It's reasonable without being overly expensive.

Is it only Coyote's or can we shoot bunny rabbits too?  I'm going to try and bring the Tommy up to AlBaney but don't know if my undies are warm enuff....

Oh dear Lord, that's serious sigline material there!

If its legal, shoot it.  If its not legal and you shoot it, shut up and grab a shovel.  [unless its me or one of the W's].

I still have dreams about shooting the M249 SAW at the summer Full Auto shoot at Albany.
I also shot the suppressed Barrett during "quiet time" and a G18.

A helluva lot of fun and I didn't have to clean a single gun! ;-)

Keep in mind guys, this is the same Saturday as the Practical Rifle night match. We'll be back in Portland easily in time.

Sign-ups for the night match start at 4:00pm.

So if we leave Albany at 2:00pm., that would give enough time for a whiz, combat ninja suit change, etc.

I wonder what the real reason is?

The REAL reason…

The ARPC is doing some range renovation.

They’re drilling holes and using explosives to blast away at the hill to make the entire firing line level to 200-yards. They’re expanding the pistol bays around the back (NE side of the hill and moving those dumbass trap shooters way around the back side of the hill where no one can hear them whine any more (and I even like trap).

I just found out this today myself (the no MG shoot part). It does seem stupid to cancel the winter full auto shoot. There’s a few pieces of heavy equipment downrange that would have to be moved and that seems (to me at least) all the extra work that would have to be done to accommodate the full auto shoot. I have a sneaking suspicion that if the e-board did not cancel the MG shoot, all the other disciplines (like trap, high power, benchrest, etc.) would all have their panties in a twist about "why those noisy machine guns and not our air rifles." The whole "what’s good for the goose is good for the gander" thing. What those dumbasses with their 12ga lightning rods don’t understand is that the MG shoots bring a lot of loot into the club to do thing s like… blow up the mountain. Almost as much money as the ARPC fun shows. Where trap brings in… $16.38… ass holes.
