Does it close with the FA?  My AR will hang up with some magazines with stronger springs.  But they generally feed when i bring the bolt all the way back and release it.  Just not when i ease it shut...which is annoying in the deer stand.

I test fired one round and it cycled the bolt and locked it back.

How did you test fire a round if you can not get the bolt to lock in?

Are you using reloaded ammo? If you are sounds like the die is not adjusted properly.

I'm curious.

How did you take it apart and put it back together the first time without the proper tools?

Ar15 armors tool and a vice had the upper clamped in using oak block on the top and bottom to distribute the pressure and used gauge rod to line up the gas tube and torqed the barrel to 250 inch pounds then went a little more to line up the gas tube...

I just removed the upper and the bcg and took a round and had inserted it into the chamber it drops in about half way then it takes pressure to insert it completely into the chamber...

Came back here just to suggest that.  Make sure your chamber is real clean.  That could be causing it to bind up.

Using another known good upper on your lower will yield different results and may help in determining the defect.  If I have time tomorrow we can work it out to find the problem.

I have seen pictures of Book using claw hammers before to 'fix' a rifle...just saying.

However I would still trust him even w/ a hammer to fix my rifle.
