Nah, Ky will go to the dance regardless. Besides, todays game turned out pretty good in the 2nd. Just barely lost right there at the end, and LSU is ranked 18th. As for the tourney, our fans travel (money talks, especially right now), and they will take at least 4 teams from the SEC, possibly one or two more. Of course, I don't think we'll get too awful far with their sporadic play, but I think we'll get in. |

I'm saying this as a life-long Gamecock fan (born and raised in Columbia, SC). For so long the Cats were at the top of the SEC. Now you guys are finally having the chance
to experience what we've had to go through each year as the Cats dismantled team after team. I'm not necessarily pulling "against" the team. Those guys are young and they'll improve. Next year will be a better one. But with the prospect of KY not making it to the NCAA Tournament, I'll admit I'm enjoying watching all you Cat fans SQUIRM! ETA: I do root for the KY football team...as long as they're not playing the Gamecocks or the Cardinals! Football season's just a few months away fellas! ![]()

But you are happy to live off the Kentucky economy, especially any part contributing to the funding of the Big Blue. Do you root for MEXICO in the world cup? |

But you are happy to live off the Kentucky economy, especially any part contributing to the funding of the Big Blue. Do you root for MEXICO in the world cup? Fell in love with a Louisville girl and married her so yeah I'm living off participating in the KY economy. The point I was trying to make which you possibly misunderstood is that I'm not cheering for the team to lose. It has nothing to do with the team...they'll improve and be back. Rather I was commenting on the reactions of the fans. The KY fans have had it so good for so long that you don't know how to take it when you're team finally has a taste of what other teams have to go through when we've had to face the all mighty UK Wildcats in the past. What I've learned as a long-suffering Gamecock fan is to enjoy the good times when they come. During the lean times though my team needs it's fans to stand tall and and cheer, even against insurmountable odds like, oh I don't know. Say UK beating us by 20 points or more. Cat fans...welcome to the rest of the SEC. SC's big rival is the Clemson Tigers. I thought those fans were obnoxious until I moved up here and saw (some) of the UK fans. I've heard more bitching on the radio from Cat fans about the recent slump than I've ever heard about any team. KY players...good luck in the SEC tournament. I'll be cheering for you (my caveat above still applies). Maybe instead of bitching and whining about how they've been let down, some of the Cat fans will still stand up and cheer you on now when you guys need it the most. UK basketball players:

Maybe it would help if you didn't name your mascot after a cock.
FWIW, maybe you should convert to big blue or red. My wife is from Kentucky (I was born here) but I grew up in TN and rooted for Vandy. Went to a TN college other than either of those. I spent a lot of time in Miss. and my kids were born there. So any of those teams we could support. However, I am the only one in the family with a degree from UK and my family is the biggest blue family. You can convert, just admit your past sins. |

There's those kind of idiots in every fan base. A few years ago it was non-stop "Fire Pitino, man" when he had UofL in the NIT.
As for Kentucky... I don't know what the hell their problem is this year. I'd be surprised if they win more than two games in the SEC tournament. So it looks like it's the NIT for the cats. My dad indoctrinated me with Kentucky basketball at a very early age. So I'll always be a fan. It's just a bit embarrassing this year. The up and downs come with being a fan, though. Now I'm off to watch YouTube clips of the '96 season to relive the glory days.
