We will be floating it early June and I am thinking about, well, I have this idea. I am thinking of bringing my scuba gear and diving down in areas that people like to flip in. I guess I want to see how many car keys, bottle openers fishing tackle etc. I can find.
So, can anyone tell me how deep it gets and how clear the water is?
I promise if I find your keys i will mail them to you as soon as I can.

BTW, I just ordered a toy today but I am going to wait until I get it before I post anything about since, as everyone knows, the thread would be worthless without picts....

It's always looked pretty murky to me.

It can be pretty murky depending on rainfall. There are lots of undercurrents, and if you are going below Vienna there will be speed boats.

Or you can at least scare the bejesus out of people!

The upper stretches are pretty clear.  It gets murkier the further downstream you go.  Be careful of the swift currents getting you trapped against rootwads!

When I was a kid we would go to Lake Havasu in AZ the weekends after memorial and labor day. My uncle would scuba down in copper canyon and sometimes in the channel near the bridge. every year he would make a few thousand dollars selling the sunglasses and other stuff he found. He called anyone whos wallet he found and return it to them, lots of those people gave him a few bucks for returning it. So there is probably lots of stuff to be found down there.

Growing up I spent every weekend at Current River.  Me and a buddy of mine would go upstream to where most people put in to start floating....We'd take our goggles/snorkel and a pair of flippers.   We'd swim the several mile trip....I can't tell you how many pairs of sunglasses we acquired over the years.  Also....tons of people keep money on them...and loose it....a normal day was $15-20 a piece.  Sadly, we only found on $100.

Nah it was in the summer.  After you've sat in the water all day long it's not to bad.  Especially not for us since we were sporting new shades everyday.  I've actually still got 2-3 timexes that I found along the way.
