I'm on the verge of buying a Geissele, but I'd really like to shoot one first, it is a lot of $.  Is there anyone semi-local (Shen Valley / NOVA) who would be willing to let me test drive?

If You buy one, You will love it.
If not, You can sell it in the EE very quickly for not much less than new.

I have a SD3G in Charlottesville you can try - I can probably get a SSA-E for you to test also.

I have a nice one, waiting in the package for me to build a gun for it to go in.

I would insert the puking guy here, but the work computer doesn't allow pop ups.

I swapped my Colt's milspec trigger with an SSA and the difference is amazing.  The SSA-E is lighter, which is nicer when you are sitting at a bench rest, but doesn't provide as large a safety margin in a high stress situation.

It would be nice if you could try each (along with flat bow versions) back to back to decide which one is best for you.  The easiest way to do that may be to hit the Nation's Gun Show in Chantilly later this month.  There is a vendor that has a number of the models installed in test lowers.  You won't get to hear the bang, but it gives you a good idea of the take-up, break, and reset.

Good advice, and that is only about 45 minutes away; thanks!

I have an SSA-E and an SD-C in my ARs, absolutely love them.

I pass right by Berryville 2 - 3 days a week to and from work. Don't know when I can get out to the range, but if you wan to meet up one day we can do that and you get somewhat of a feel for them.

I'm in Clarke county north of town. I have a Stag Arms 3g with a Geissele that came stock. You can shoot it tomorrow if you would like. I have my own range.
