Finally got to use my Coleman Powermate 5000 (with Subaru engine) during the ice storm.  Problem was that it would shut itself off every 45 minutes or so.  It would start right back up again after pulling the cord, but then it would shut down again after 45 minutes, etc.  It kept doing this.  The generator only had about 16 hours run time before the storm, and I run it about 40 minutes a month.

I was only drawing about 3000 watts during the storm, so I wasn't overloading it.  I had just changed the oil as well.

Any ideas as to what is causing this?  Google search indicated it could be a carb issue.  Thanks.

Sounds like it's not getting enough fuel, is the gas cap breather hole/valve open to allow the fuel to flow?
