Well for all you guys out there that might find yourself in a stuck situation, I finally got my daily driver truck unstuck this morning and I would recommend what I did to all of ya!
I don't have posi axles on my daily driver and the situation I was in, the traction wheels kept moving on me, so what I did, it cut 4 pieces of scrap shag carpet into 3 foot sections and put them behind each wheel/tire and was finally able to walk it out of the high center situation I found myself in! So if you have the room, stop by the local second hand shop, pick up some carpet scraps and cut them into 3-4 foot runner sections, next time you find yourself stuck, just dig out behind or in front the tires, throw them down and slowly in 4 hi, start walking your way out of the sticky situation. Normally, I am able to stuff a 2x4 or some other piece of wood behind or in front of a tire to get out, but I was high centered so back, just didn't work this time and I started looking around to see what I had on hand to get extra traction! The carpet worked! |
| Carpet scraps are a great idea! I have been able to walk on the chains too. Used cut/split firewood to build up a ramp. High centered sucks! I also carry shovels. There are times I really do not like the locker, and there are others that I am very happy to have it. Newest Suburban I picked up has it, so now both vehicles do. |

Thanks guys, this one was a bitch to say the least and what is so frustrating is I have a 12.500 pound winch sitting on the bed of my plow truck that is not hooked up, I took it off my mud truck when I sold it and have just never hooked it back up.
That will change before the end of the week, I just ordered a winch cradle to put in the receiver hitch and ordered a new front hitch to put on this truck and I will have it wired and ready to go by the next time we have a storm like this! I would have been able to winch out with it in about 10 minutes if I had it hooked up! |
