Yeah, but we only have one member that I know of posting from Cambodia and none in Laos.

That's someplace around here, because I lkept seeing the references in articles on Superfund sites, I think, but I don't know where.

Very true.

I'm gonna try to make that gunshow, maybe I'll find something worth buying.

Why is it called the Golden Triangle?
9/9/2007 5:38:29 AM EDT
[#12]
From Wikipedia:

The Golden Triangle is an area of Southeast Texas between the cities of Beaumont, Port Arthur, and Orange. The "golden" refers to the wealth that came from the Spindletop oil strike in Beaumont in 1901, and more recently from the many gas flares that are located at all of the local oil refineries, which creates a rough triangular shape around the area when viewed from nighttime aircraft.

The term more generally refers now to the entire Beaumont-Port Arthur-Orange metropolitan area, forming the triangle.

Edit:
The gas flares thingy, sounds completly like hog wash....

Remember when "they" wanted to rename it "the Triplex" and had a triangle oriented opposite of how the cities are on the map?

Might have been before my time or before I was paying attention to stuff.

Sounds pretty stupid, just like the recent attempt at boosting tourism in Beaumont. Like putting lipstick on a pig.

I like Beaumont, lived here all my life but sorry there just isn't anything to see besides crack whores. Maybe they need to advertise our vast crack and prostitution trade?

I tend to shy away from our Gated Mobile Home Communities, my gun club is out in Orange county and I tend to close my eyes and hang on for dear life while driving out there.

I'm moving up to some land I bought in Kountze, in a couple months, off of FM1293 towards Honey Island...and I'll have over 1200 yards, open range to shoot...and yes that was the main factor why I'm moving to Kountze....and the monster whitetails...

"I lied it's just over 1000 yards according to Google Earth."
right up the road from the high school...can't miss it....

This is my rig for precision...all stock except for trigger job, and knob..  it's a Rem700 police .308 I think I can get her out to 1000 yards, with handloaded 175grainers..

Very nice.

Here is my toy for accuracy fun, though it's a 6.8 so it's not ideal for super long range, though I'm sure it's capable

I'm a noob just outside the Golden Triangle in Mauriceville (like Slitzer) working on my first build.  If you guys are planning something or looking to arrange a gathering, I'd be interested in joining in.  I'm also a member at the OGC, so let me know.  Thanks.

I have an unlimited number of guests at my club and they are ok with just about everything I've come up with as long as you are safe, though I don't any giggle switch stuff so they may not allow that I dunno.

If I ever get so damn ammo loaded the few of us around can head out to my club and make a day of it.

Sounds good to me! Anytime...

(You know us so called trouble makers......... really should stick together!)

Best reason I like Southeast Texas Sportsman's Club, because they don't mind rapid fire.. if your not acting stupid.
Also they don't say crap about my suppressors, or short barrels, unlike other local clubs....

Edit: And no, they say they don't allow full auto.....
I found this out with my Ar15 Timney Trigger Generation 1 that would fire 3, 4, & 5 round burst. Until I sent it back for a replacement...

It's worth the 20 min drive from Beaumont out there, got tired of another range that is non membership with VERY stupid rules.

I've never had anyone say a word when I'm shooting how I want at SETS, if the range is empty I shoot on the move and transition between multiple targets and pistol and rifle. Loads of fun and better than just standing still and shooting at paper.

When there is another I'll probably go, not like Liberty county is that far, 30-35 minute drive at most.
