Had a good weekend.  My 12 year old daughter finally showed an interest in shooting this weekend.  All she's ever been interested in before was a BB gun.

Saturday, I got out my Remington 512 .22lr and she asked if she could shoot it.  I handed it over, showed her how to load it, then sat back and watched.  I was happy.  The scope wasn't sighted in, just mounted and bore sighted.  She shot the pond and tryed to hit a paint can at about 50 yds, but we had to get out the AR to get it to pop.

Sunday, we went to Bucksnort to shoot some loads over the chronograph, and she demaded I take HER .22 again.  So I kindly obliged.  We even got photographic proof!!!

Then while I was working with the AR, she asked what the scope reticle(she doesn't know the word, but to simplify, that's what she wanted to see) on my AR scope, so I told her to sit behind it and take a look.  Wife snapped another photo:

BTW, my 6(7 on 8th of Oct.) year old boy also got some trigger time in on the Remington .22.

Way cool time!  Good age to get them hooked to.  Nice looking group of kids you have there.  I'm assuming they got the good looks from their mom as I have seen you and can say your a big ugly bastard like me.

Not a better time to spend with the family than at the range. I wish all parents would do this and not pound ani-guns bullshit inside their brain. Good looking family by the way!

That is AWESOME!  I can't wait until I can take my son shooting, he is only 18 months old.  Like your kids there, my son got his good looks from his mom.

I was finally able to get out with my nine year old son.  His momma has finally given me the okay to go deer hunting with me this fall.  He shot over 100 rounds through my Ruger 10/22T and 5.5" Mark II.  Shot about 5 rounds through the Marlin 30-30 (Remington Light loads).  I limited him with this rifle so he would not become scared of it.  He wasn't.  One round of 8 shot in a 20 ga 870 youth gun was enough.  His emuffs actually flew off his head.  That was enough and we went right back to the .22 pistol.  He also shot about one mag out of the Sig P-6.  It was a little to much for him.

A great couple of hours even as hot as it got.  New concrete benches at the Apple Creek CA range.  Place was packed with shooters enjoying Labor Day.

My son took his .22 target to show off the bulleyes and now his 16 sister is finally interested in going.

I took my youngest to the Busch Wildlife range when she was 10 with the ruger 10/22 and shot at paper targets. Besides it being boring and the guy in the next stall shooting what sounded like a 7mm Mag (sound bounces off of the roof and back into your stall). Well anyway she was ok with it, but like I said bored. So a friend suggested that I take her up to Logan and put clay pigeons on the hill and let her bust them up. Should have seen her eyes light up and I was very proud when she held the loaded rifle down range and turned her head  and exclaimed "I like this daddy". We have not shot together in about a year, but she still had fun even if it was paper again (Benchrest does not allow targets on the berm). That was last year and she is now 23 yrs old.

Good looking crew you have there J20. You'll be glad many years down the road when they grow up and want to go shooting again as a family. And a few years later once they move out, you can do it all over again with the grandkids.  And this will happen sooner than you think.

Don't remind me, Max-Paul.  She's 12.5, I'm 30.3.  You do the math.

BTW, my boy already wants to go deer hunting with me(for the last 3 years).  I'm going to wait a couple more and make sure he can handle at least the AR with some Sciroco II's.

Not sure if the daughter will ever go hunting, but at least she likes shooting paper targets and other 'visible' targets.

So, anyone have any old paint cans that don't spray anymore?
