Don't know if this was reposted: http://www.thenewamerican.com/usnews/constitution/item/14322-gun-owners-refuse-to-register-under-new-york-law
Threats of imprisoning gun owners for up to a year and confiscating their weapons are already being issued by governor’s office, headed by a rabid anti-Second Amendment extremist who suggested before the bill passed that “confiscation” of all semi-automatic rifles was being considered. If tens or even hundreds of thousands of otherwise law-abiding citizens refuse to comply, however, analysts say New York would either have to start raising taxes and building a lot more prisons, or give up on the scheme that experts say will do nothing to reduce violence and that lawmakers say is aimed at eventual confiscation. |

this is confiscation. What do you mean? I am not advocating anyone break the law, of course, however I feel like if there is massive non-compliance that, like Canada, the state will give up on registration. Also we're talking the government here... this is going to cost time and money... this is going to be a giant bureaucratic clusterfuck of epic proportions. |

I think the Commy/Pinko Cock Suckers decided to use NY as a test case. U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder traveled to New York to address the State District Attorneys Association's winter conference. He spoke to them about an issue getting a lot of attention at both the state and national level – gun control.

Reading stuff like this makes me smile |

“They’re saying, ‘F--- the governor! F--- Cuomo! We’re not going to register our guns,’ and I think they’re serious. People are not going to do it. People are going to resist,” explained State Rifle and Pistol Association President Tom King, who also serves on the National Rifle Association board of directors. “They’re taking one of our guaranteed civil rights, and they’re taking it away.”

“A free people ought not only to be armed and disciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government.” - George Washington
In case anyone thought the Second Amendment was just for hunting. |

For most of New York State, this is probably a non-issue, especially in those counties that have already shown disgust for the new SAFE law. For those of us living downstate (excluding NYC which already has registration), especially Westchester, Suffolk and my home county of Nassau, I would expect an active program to locate and identify unregistered firearms. Remember, our DA here in Nassau has a personal vendetta against firearm ownership and will use whatever laws it takes to get rid of them (nobody on her staff is permitted to own a firearm as a condition of employment in the DA's office). This is the same DA that staged the raids here back in 2011 against various gun shops for selling illegal "assault weapons" that later turned out to be legal and has been fighting to make the countersuits go away. In fact, I would not be surprised to see them actively go to various gun shops, like NYPD did, and start reviewing all 4473's looking for leads. Against Federal law? Of course but who in the current administration is going to go after them? |

Don't be so sure it will only be Nassau, Suffolk and Westchester. https://www.examiner.com/article/effort-to-abolish-local-sheriffs-a-stealth-federal-power-grab A news report has been quietly making its way around the alternative media, under the radar screen, concerning a Delaware legal decision to strip county sheriffs of their arrest powers in the state. The mainstream media has not reported the story, but the son of Vice President Joe Biden, who serves as Attorney General for the state of Delaware, has issued a mandate to county commissioners informing them that sheriffs in the state's three counties no longer have arrest powers. When the information reached this reporter late yesterday evening, further investigation revealed that there is a nationwide effort to strip local sheriffs of most of their enumerated powers that are mandated in the state constitutions of the various states. Such a move would have the net effect of abolishing local sheriffs departments and strengthening the power of federal law enforcement agencies. And this is not the first time such an effort has been launched...... |

They can own rifles and shotguns, just not "firearms". Still bullshit though. |

A bit of info on the firearms policy of the Nassau DA's office. Rice is about as anti-gun as they come. http://defensivehandgun.blogspot.com/2010/09/assistant-district-attorneys-barred.html |
