Any one notice how scary grocery store security looks these days ?

Full attire black 511 gear, black hat, black commando boots, batons. The works, complete with dark sun glasses and hiding in between the liquor isles while scoping the case registers. You'd think they'd be guarding things like Bacon, ice cream, and doughnuts..

I was thinking scary for different reasons. The Shuncks I go to sometimes had a security guard that was short with a VERY large beer gut. There was always 2 or 3 buttons not done on his shirt and of cours no undershirt because why would you want to hide that. His gut would stick out a little, very disturbing.

the Wal Mart here does not have a Security Guard but I am sure he would be dressed the same as the one you are describing

There was one at the store in my old neighborhood that wore SWAT type clothing, mirrored sunglasses after dark, walked around with  GS dog, and drove a Crown Vic. He always interjected police 50 codes in his sentences. He was never a police officer or in the military. Three hood rats robbed the store, kicked his dog, beat his @ss, and took his gun. After that, the store manager stopped asking why I referred to that security guard as Ram-Bo-Bo...

This evening's run was a hit and run to Moser's off the business loop. I needed two gallons of distilled water for my Ultra Sonic to clean some gun parts.. For perishables like meat and produce it's Hy-Vee off W. Broadway. No security needed there. Sometimes I use Gerbes by the old fair grounds, it has security and yes they all tend to have beer guts but the bravada in the liquor isle this evening just brought to light how scary grocery shopping has become. 511 commando buttons flying off beer bellys moving 950 fps down isle three.

Really: they should start making 511 in 4XL Portly.

Crap is that the one at 350 and blue ridge? When I was living in that area around 05-06 my friends didn't believe the stories I told about how crappy that store was... until they went in there.

They built a new one in Raytown where the old Herndon building was on 350.  Just as crappy, and they managed to hire even more reject employee's.

1911smith, Been in the Wally world off 63?  I have a few times.  All the kids at work call it "ghetto walmart."  (Kids = recent college grads.)
Now, unless I have to go to Lowes or Staples, I avoid that place like the plague.

Do most of my shopping HyVee south.  Unless it is a local gun store on the north side.

SOMETIMES grocery stores NEED uber security! Back when I first got in Law Enforcement a store in St. Joseph (SE corner of Belt & Michell) was involved in a Union strike. They had shot holes in the store several evenings. Two of us got hired to sit on the store from closing til opening. Problem solved. THEN they decided they didn't need security, a week later a dynamite charge blew out the doors! Store closed for good!

That colored my opinion of Unions forever!

Yep, avoid that one. All the grocery stores in and around "the skillet" have security and a few convenience stores to boot. Still I don't have reservations about driving through any area in Columbia. I was raised near Columbia, spent most of my life here and I just don't feel threatened. If someone wanted to upstart a small security guard business. Columbia would be a good place for start up. You'd need a good diet plan for your help though.

My 23yo daughter had a friend over to visit the other night. He works security at an apt building in downtown KC. He showed up in full gear. I mean tac vest and all...and he never took it off the whole time he was here.

Very nice young man that would likely shit himself if he saw my gear locker.

Will it actually impede bullet travel, or is it just a vest?  I get a nearly daily chuckle out of my hospital's security guards, some of which make me look svelte, and their "tactical" vests.    I won't even address their Security Kia or Tactical Minivan.

Stopped in at Mosers on business loop again. Mr. 511 security dude was on patrol. Only this time with a blue button shirt in full beer belly commando tuck. Each button hole perfectly stretched in line to the next. There was a dial up connection issue when running my debit card so while this is going on he's circled back of me now and standing over my shoulder while waiting for approval on my card. Approval comes, ask cashier to discard receipt and give Commando 511 a look of "give it a break." I'm tellin ya, swinging in to grab a fast 6 pack of dt. dew requires a lot of security these days. He's even equipped with full policeman's belt with all the hardware, complete with Glock.

Dude, take a pill. Go to the gym and if you want to play police apply to police academy. But, give the grocery store commando bit a break....

Metropolitan Patrol Security Company?  Bunch of super troopers that outfit, they even have a K-9 unit...  How they are still around after multiple lawsuits boggles my mind.

Uh, Ooohhhh...... have to buy my dew and distilled water some place else..... now that I'm outed. I think grocery store security commando is related to Paul Blart. Yea... a red headed Paul Blart... Blart parks his security commando suv in front of the store. I mean right at the front. Bet red headed Blart keeps a Sedgeway in the back.

Hey, Roque4. You bringing your own ammunition next month or am I reloading everything for you again ?? Good to see your avatar again. The guys at Snipers Hide throw you out again ?? You really should work on that post count.
