Hey all,
I'm trying to figure out if there is, in fact, a state leve prohibition against gunshops operating within 1000 feet of a school. I am hearing that ATF has approved shops being withing 1000 feet of schools in the past. Basically, my new space is probably about 800 feet from a school and I'm trying to head off any any trouble upfront. The township I'm moving to doesn't care and I know that federal law is on my side with this but I don't know state law on this. If anyone knows I would really appreciate any help. The specific law is (720 ILCS 5/24‑3) (from Ch. 38, par. 24‑3). To be perfectly honest, I have read this thing for about 2 hours now and I don't understand a single word of it.
