Ok I've tried to read all the gun laws I can find on the net for Texas but I just want to make sure of this.

You can purchase and own a SBR in Texas without any special requirements, its only taking it across state lines that requires forms and such?

I am looking to purchase my first AR and I want to make sure I'm going about it right. I am looking for a M4 6921 so I want to make sure it's legal.

Thank guys!

It does have to be NFA compliant though. $200 tax etc.......copy of approved form 1 or f4 if applicable. To cross state lines then of course other paperwork would be required.

So how do I go about those forms? Will the FFL help set it up? I am a serious novice when it comes to this, I guess I need to be given explicit directions on what to do...visual learner, sorry

Ok, start reading here. Big bad SBR FAQ's.

If you build one yourself it would be filed on a form 1. If you buy a already made SBR then it would be transfered to you on a form 4 usually handled by a title 2/class 3 dealer or manufacture. Read the link above and it should answer almost all your questions.
