Hey y'all. Before I get a gun safe I thought I would ask if someone had a used one they want to sell so they can get a bigger one. I don't have a whole lot of guns but I do have the fever to buy more. Thanks.

On the other hand does anyone recommend a certain brand? (NEW)

No prob bro. Glad you like it. I got a Liberty from David's a few months ago. I spend a little more than I would have at BPS or Sams, but it is ten times the safe. Quality, warranty, etc. Don't slouch on your safe.

Just got a used one and now found a local guy selling one I wanted - sent email.
Would sell this one for the price I paid to get the bigger one!

I'm actually going to be in the market for one soon myself. I just need to wait until after vacation and after my wife and I go to Vegas. I've been using an offive type safe, but now that I have long guns too, I need something that will hold those also. I'm starting to look at ones that will hold long guns on one side (I only have four) and has shelves for handguns, jewelery, important paperwork, emergency cash, etc on the other. My wife told me that she one that was perfect, and the lay out was, but it was a Stock On gun cabinet and not a safe. A month or so ago I was one at Adventure Outdoors that ould be good for my needs for $699. When I'm ready to buy, I'll look at it again and will also check David's.

TeamBlack, good logic about buying from someone that is trading up.  If you or anyone else does get this to work, be sure the combination can be changed.

There is one other think to know about safes.  It is a well known fact among safe owners that safes shrink over time.  When I got mine I thought I would never fill it up.  Wrong.  That sucker in about half as big as it was when I bought it.

About those combinations.  Find a secure place to keep a copy.  Also, think hard about where in your house you will put it.  Depending on the safe and your home, there could be security and structural issues.  I do not want mine to be seen from outside the windows.

Sometime back there was a crew running around Georgia stealing the things.  That is as much as I know about it.  Maybe someone will come along with more information.

That's the other thing that concerns me. I'm going have to put it upstairs in my bedroom closet or in the garage. For security reasons, I don't like the garage idea, and I'm not sure if I room in the closet for one. I know there isn't room in the guest room and my wife won't let me put one in her home office. The garage, bolted to both the floor and wall, way be my only option. Will I have issues in a nonclimate controlled garage?

David's is awesome.  They sometimes get used ones as well.

Bernie's Sporting Goods in Lilburn also has a nice selection.

Check with Home Depot right off Hamilton Mill going up I 85 in Gwinnett.  They have some 8 gun safes for a very good price.  I bought one as my second safe when my big one filled up.

Adam5, if you wind up in the basement lots and lots of dessicant will help.  You have to keep an eye on it and freshen it up when required.  A golden rod may help as well but I have no experience with them.

My safe was first used in my parent's basement while I was off working for Uncle Sam.  No climate control there.  Lots of humidity as well.  I used a lot of RIG on all metallic parts.  All worked out well.

There is a new, to me, product out that Midway and others sell.  They are called gun socks or something like that.  They are supposed to wick the moisture away from the guns.  I bought a few because of the shrinking safe issue.  Look them up.  The reports on them are good.

Thanks for the advice. I'm hoping on finding somewhere other than the garage for it. I'm concerned about the security aspect of keeping it there. If I do, it will definately be bolted down and kept covered so that neighbors can't see it.

An 18" Golden Rod that David installed with the safe has been equal to the HotLanta humidity with my below ground basement location!

I don't work there anymore so I guess I can advertise. Newnan Ace Hardware sells Liberty safes and David will normally beat anybody's price. We even had a guy drive up from Mississippi last year to buy 2. He said he contacted every dealer in the southeast and he ended up buying from us. Hell, Travis Tritt even bought 2 from us.  IM me and I'll give you the number.

Yea, I'm still in the market. I have to give it a little time for someone to decide they want a newer one. Then I will start looking for new ones.

I have the same that I installed myself.
2.5 yrs in the basement and zero problems.
They work great.
