Anybody else take a day,at least once a year, and clean all their guns?
Strongarm, you don't need to reply,I already know how anal you are about cleaning everything

Everything gets cleaned after its shot.  Other then that they sit around until used.  The only gun I clean on a regular basis is my carry gun just to get the lint out of it from being under my shirt.

Maybe I am too anal but I clean my firearms after every trip to the range.  It gives me a chance to not only clean them but look them over for anything that might be broken or worn.  Plus there is nothing like the fragrance of gun cleaner

I clean my M-2 and M-240 about every other day.  M-4, ehhhh, maybe once a week(I clean my optics and brush it off everyday).

I have a friend and we get together a few times a year and clean some. However I try and clean all my guns each year but never get it complete.

The .50s take a while to throughly clean the muzzle brakes.

I shoot it till it stops running and then clean it, unless its picked up a bit of rust sitting in the safe. Its going to be a bit before the revolver gets touched

I clean after shooting.

.22s are horrible if you let them sit and cake on.

I also finally got a carbon scraper for my bolt carriers for Christmas. Never had one till now. Ehh.

I try to clean my guns pretty often.  Ironically, the 22/45 will jam the fastest, and I hate cleaning it the most out of everything else.  That gun is seriously a PAIN to take down.  The other guns have never jammed due to lack of cleaning, except for my XD that I decided to shoot USPSA and steel matches an entire summer without cleaning.  Went 5k before getting a piece of brass wedged in the extractor and wouldn't extract the spent shell.  Blew it out and kept goin.

All my guns are tools and I use them as such. If it actually needs cleaning for some reason I may get around to it eventually. In all seriousness if I owned a gun that actually required meticulous, thorough cleaning on a regular basis in order to maintain its accuracy/reliability etc., it would be gone in a heartbeat.

Except for a couple from Booger ( ), I shoot them until they either quit working or  when my hands get too dirty from manually extracting empty casings.   Then they get a buff and polish.  No one has to worry tho, I'd lose them in a lake before I ever ended up selling any.

Be gentle Nemo!

Since over 2/3 of my "dust" collection has never left the house, or have been shot less than 3 times since purchased, I don't clean that often...if I have something that needs cleaning I'll take it over to Strongarms place and he'll feel sorry for it and clean it for me.

Carry guns, every time after shooting them.....other guns, pretty much unless I am going right back out in a few days.  I usually try to go through everything at least once a year to detail, and inspect for worn parts and replace as necessary.
