I've been putting off buying a Mossy 590 and I hope it's not too late.  Going to have to call around see what's in stock.

I haven't bought a gun since I moved back here last year.  The DMV made a mistake and put my PO box address on my Driver License instead of my physical address.

From what I remember for a handgun, you have to have a utility bill or vehicle reg and matching address on your DL.  But that doesn't apply to long guns correct?  I was planning on calling Turner's tomorrow to ask, but my curiosity got the best of me just now.

It applied to me last month when I bought an AR lower. DL address had to be my physical address, no exception.

Contact the DMV and get it corrected asap.

The joys of the DMV.

Guess I'll make an appointment and get it taken care of.  Thanks.

You might be able to do a change of address online.

Or maybe not.  Sorry. What's the point if they won't issue a new DL?

"You can change
your residence or mailing address for your California Driver License,
Identification Card, vehicle, or vessel. A new driver license,
identification card or registration card is not issued when changing
your address."

Yeah I saw that link earlier.  Thank you though.

I called Turners today and they said if my vehicle reg has my current physical address, despite my PO Box on my DL, I'm still good to go.  But I made an appointment at the DMV to get a new DL.  I should have taken care of it earlier but I just never got around to it.  The DMV form had 2 boxes when I initially got my DL, one for mailing and one for physical. I figured they would just use the PO box for mailing my license and renewals, I didn't think it would be put on my DL itself.  Oh well.

I live in a specific part of my town where they won't deliver mail to my house, and instead I HAVE to pick up mail at a PO Box.  The address on my DL, car registrations, regular mail, pretty much everything is that PO Box, and I've been able to buy guns by bringing in a copy of my PG&E bill that lists the service address as the physical street address of my house, as well as my mailing address.  I've had to do this for stripped lowers and for handguns.

Just went through this with my bro-in-law.  The gun shop told us to go to the registrar of voters.  They gave him a notarized form for under $10 and we were out of there in ten minutes.

Appreciate the feedback guys.  I'm wondering now if I should bother with the DMV?  I don't even know if they'll issue me a new DL just for an address change, and if they do, I"m sure i'll have to pay the $35 or whatever fee.  Since I have truck insurance, bills and my vehicle reg showing my physical address, hopefully it won't be a problem.

Your good to go with long guns and try calling the stockade for the 590 as well.
