I need to get one. We started selling some for a friend of our who gets em, but they're 24 gun and fairly heavy. I'd be afraid of it falling through the floor of my apartment

I got one of theseCLICK HERE at walmart for $250, I use it just for ammo they also have a bigger one for a little more than $400. I think if your gonna spend $400ish you should save a little bit more because sportmans have a couple real good ones for approx. $600

At $400 you're looking at GI Joes, Fisherman's Bi-Mart, etc. Probably Stack-on or Sentry. Joes has (on their web site) a Stack-on 16-Gun with combination lock for less than $300.

You could always put THIS on your front door to your house

But seriously check Craigslist, I got a basic 2 key Homak closet safe for $25 off from there.

Try Foster Creek Metal Fab, I have 3 of their safes.  They build how you want and they are local.
E mail me, I give you their number.

If you want the best.......www.graffundersafes.com/

You have to see one in person.  Best safes I've ever seen, but they are rather costly

Impressive. A 5400lb safe must be quite a sight.

Makes the AMSEC RF6528 at 3400lb seem like a lightweight!

I couldn't find any TL-30 or TL-15 UL rating though. Do you know if Graffunder submit to UL testing?

Cheers

I drove up to the Graffunder factory about a month ago.  They're in Yakima, WA.  I got a tour of the facilities by a fabricator and was VERY impressed with their construction.  Needless to say, they don't skimp on materials, and they are certainly not mass produced.  I think they only put out about 40-50 safes a month.  They are truly handmade, and done by people that still take pride in their work.  I think the TL15 & 30 ratings are available by request and would be a custom safe, which they will build but I could be mistaken.

Anyhoo...

I bought an "Economy" model Graffunder, the B7240.  I upgraded the lock to a Group 1, and it "Only" weighs 2100 lbs, and cost me $ X,XXX (A lot !).

As far as weight in an apartment, if your floor can hold up two people hugging, a 400 lb. safe distributes the weight over a much greater area, so don't sweat it.  I put an 800 lb. safe in an upstairs closet once, and the floor never even creaked.  I could acutally push it around on the carpet by myself.  I guess the bottom was a gloss finish also.

I'm in the market for a new Liberty Safe.  I'm gonna go check out Liberty Safes of Portland, today or tomorrow.  Just have to figure out where to put it in our new house.

I love my Liberty Safe it has got plenty of room a nice finish and has served me well for a many of years. You might want to consider saving a few more $$ and get a higher end safe as you will most likely own it for the rest of your life.
