| I believe you need to fill out a Certificate of Eligibility, found here:www.njsp.org/info/pdf/firearms/sp-634.pdf, although I may be wrong. You may only need the certificate for private transfers, such as at gun shows, etc. |

The Certificate of Eligibility or FID card won't do you any good in PA. When you go to a dealer they will want to see your ID just to make sure you are of age and a PA resident. If you are not a PA resident you could still buy the firearm, but you can't take it with you. Your only option is to have it sent to an FFL in your own state, then pay the normal transfer fee to that FFL. What I am looking for is a state that you could go to without them checking ID or requiring anything, THE WAY IT SHOULD BE, commonly referred to as the "gunshow loophole" by the liberals (I bet when they buy a big kitchen knife without a permit they don't call it a "loophole"). Of course I just want to know where to find a gunshow like this for informational purposes. |
However, I am looking for a state and gunshow that won't do a NICS check. I just want to know where a little freedom is. Curiosity is all. |

| AR-USP, even though my spelling is shot tonight, ( sorry, I'm getting tired) If you purchase a long gun in PA, you have to fill out a 4473 form, have all your ID in order. If you are going for the pistol, you have to pay for it at the show (usually), Then when you pick it up, you still fill out the 4473, must have a valid NJ pistol purchase permit, have the ID's in order. When it arrivesat the NJ FFL, pay for the shipping, then probably about $30 or more for the Ttansfer paperwork. |
100% CORRECT!!! |
| The background check is a federal thing, although it is done through the states. As far as I know, it is required in all 50 states. The only time Ive seen a sale without a background check is a private sale, such as at a garage sale, or flea market or basicly between 2 individuals. You will often find private individuals walking around at guns shows, and if you are both from the same state, and your state allows private purchases, (NJ allows private purchases) and are legally allowed to own a firearm, you may buy from that person. This usually only applies to long guns however. Many states require handguns to go through a FFL. Most shows now require that anyone who is set up as a vendor at the show, must do the paperwork and background check when selling any gun. The days of some old guy selling his collection cash and carry at a gun show seems to be over, unless he is just walking them around. |
| I guess this could apply to both gunshows and sport/gun stores, but do NJ people have to jump through the hoops to buy airguns/airpistols outside of their state as well, or are other states actually sane and dont consider an airgun a firearm? I'm itching for a cheap airpistol to plink with, but dont feel like doing a whole FFL ordeal to get one (assuming I can find a place that ships airguns to NJ)? |
There were pellet and BB guns at the show in Pa. today. Just walk in and buy it. No paperwork at all. |
I dont need any papers/etc accompanying the airpistol, do I? |
