Would anyone have a recommendation for a gunsmith who could do a one off custom AR build in the KCMO area?  I’m imagining what a late stage WWII AR15 would have looked like and trying to make the new parts we have today come together to resemble something from 1945.  I’m thinking a piston gun since that technology existed then, right side charging since Garands and M1 Carbines charged on the right, a skeletonized stock (to hide the buffer tube) a wood pistol grip and a partially wood handguard.  Would probably also want to mill down a lower to make it look more like the early slab sided ones, maybe even get rid of the bolt catch, file down all the picatinney on the upper receiver and handguard since that was not a thing back then, and have just a plain upper receiver with no forward assist or brass deflector.  If I could figure out how to post a picture, I’d show you my Power Point mock up! ??. Thanks!

I watched final 3 seasons of The Walking Dead, just to say I finished it.

This side charging Bear Creek Arsenal AR15 upper with slab side FA lower is prominent gun in the last 2 seasons.

Except for the picatinny rail and HK drum rear sights, it looks a lot like your rendition.

How about a Tommy Gun pistol grip?

Oh and you need a Tommy gun fore grip:

Cool!

We watched Walking Dead for a few seasons but never made it that far.  Looks like they threw an HK sight and some Magpul furniture on that thing!

Tommy gun grip…I was on that web site and they make some nice wood accessories if that’s your thing.  They felt a little too refined/pretty for what I was trying to do - but maybe Ver 2.0 will use a Tommy gun grip! 😀

Oddly enough the HK drum sights just came up in a discussion on that board on here.
This company sells them.

I wont, but I'm tempted to make a TWD clone.

I agree it's cool, but not $250 cool.
