I live in the dells, but to be honest I dont know enough about AK type rifles.I know its not particularly easy to just remove the barrel and I dont think the reciever will fit in my spindle bore which is 1 5/8 and my bore is to long to hang the reciever out the ass end.If you are just lookin to get it cut down and not threaded a good machinist could probably do it on a mill  the crown would be a little tricky, but it could be done. I do have acces to a lathe that the reciever would fit in but that thing is a bear, seriuosly it has a 22" 6 way with a 108" bed and 3 1/2 to 4in spindle bore. I have to use a fork lift or engine lift just to put the damn steady rest on it.I think Flamethrower is over your way he might be able to do it.

I would not recommend cutting a 20" barrel, there are not that many of these around to be chopped.

It might be possible for Todd to get it done for you, BUT I'm pretty sure he'd need the stripped reciever/trunion/barrel to try it out and get back to you, as there is really no easy way to do it.

The reason I want to do this is because I cant afford anoter maadi right now and The one I have might be hard to sell because the monkey who stamped it messed up the serial number, The trunnion and bolt are 1948 and the carrier and top cover are 1984.....

Is there anyone in the Milwaukee or Madison area that can permanently attach a flash suppressor on a 14.5" barrel?  What would be the cost to have it done?

If you take it to Fletcher's, they can get it to a smith named Jim. He does very good work at fair prices.
