Looks like the "parking lot gun bill" is dead for now. Our illustrious legislature didn't have the balls to take on the likes of Publix. Your employer can still prohibit you from keeping guns locked in your car while on company property. What's next-can't keep a baseball bat locked in your car because they have been used to injure people! It might be time to consider a boycott of Publix and any other employer that wants to trample our 2nd amendment rights. You might want to put some pressure on your legislators with some emails noting your displeasure with their foot dragging.

Honestly, like this is going to stop me?

I'll chose to save my life (and possibly someone elses) first, they can try and sue me later.

Although we didn't get everything we wanted much progress was made in this years legislative session, including the passing of the castle doctrine, passing of carry in National Forests, outlawing of confisication of guns during states of emergency.  Instead of bitching we should be grateful for living in one of the most progressive gun rights states in the country.  If you are dissatisified then get actively involved.

Actually, the Castle Doctrine was from last years session. I believe it took effect October 1st of 2005. You are right, though, that we should all take an active interest in our constitutional rights. We should not become complacent because we won a couple of battles.

Can't win them all, but Florida's still a great state for gun owners.  Let's keep it that way.

I lived in Maryland for 30-some yrs and talk about restrictions.  Try getting a CWP there.  Not happening.   Even if you had justification, it's left up to the local Sheriff, who will turn down your application without a refund.   Want to go shooting in certain counties (Montgomery), you can't even bring your own ammo - you have to buy it at the range at  a huge mark-up.    Some ranges want you to keep your firearm locked up at their facility !    Want to transport your firearms, lock up your ammo and weapon separately, no loaded mags allowed either.   When the national AWB expired, and the state was pushing for their own AWB.  Fortunately, folks mobilized and it was defeated.   I took off from work to go down to Annapolis for that one.    That was right after the Sniper event, so there was lots of tearfull testimony on the anti-gun side.

Call your elected officials and let them know how you feel.    It seems the people of Florida have done a great job keeping the state gun-friendly.   Keep up the good work!
