Thanks for the link, I ordered one of the 16GB ones for $99. A friend of mine also tried to get one and they sold out before he could put it in his cart. I got a confirmation email, but nothing saying it has shipped yet. Hopefully, I won't get a cancellation mail later. |

Web surfing mainly. I have an ipad and love it, and 99.9% of its use is just web work. I have used my home laptop twice in the last six months, and anything heavy I just bust out the work machine. The ipad is always within hands reach for quick searches on anything interests us during TV time, movies, cooking (awesome for recipes), etc. Yeah it sounds dumb but it has really changed the way we interact with info around my home.
All that said, I'd like to have another tablet but don't feel like spending the cash. A $99 tablet would be a perfect fix, and as long as the web browser works then I wouldn't need anything else. Don't care about apps and such, I only need the browser. And it's cheap enough to take to places where I wouldn't want a $700 device like under the hood working with pdf wiring diagrams. I didn't hear about it until it was too late, but not going to lose any sleep over it. EOL shouldn't affect hardware warranty afaik, but maybe wrong. So in summary, it's a cheap option for a useful tool for some. |

I hear ya. I have an iPad 2 as well and love it for browsing. Tablets are great for "instant on" browsing and apps. I use my laptop for work when I have to type a lot of emails, etc, but the tablet gets used the most for web surfing and reading.

Quoted: Why is everyone rushing to buy a discontinued product? I know they are cheap, but you won't get any updates, support, or warranty service on them since HP has end of lifed all the tablets and smartphones running WebOS. HP is still supporting WebOs, they're just not making any products for it anymore. Most people are buying this in the hopes that there will be an Android operating system port. Which sounds like there most likely will be. Basically for $99 you get a very powerful tablet that will play HD movies, surf the internet, and have access to all Android based applications. |

Pretty much this. It's the same specs as an iPad2, but for $100-$150. Plus if you grabbed a few for that price, you can turn around and pocket a nice profit. ETA: Still in-stock here |

Oh and TigerDirect in Jefferson, GA still has some in their retail shop. Probably won't last through the next hour. They are not selling them. I stopped by yesterday and they do have them, but have chosen to send them back for the credit. I think they are hording them for themselves. |

Yesterday they probably were correct in saying that, basically retailers were waiting for HP to say they would reimburse them for the loss incurred at selling them for $99. Tiger Direct released the 2,000 units they had in stock today at 3:00PM online and for phone orders. They sold out in 30 minutes. They did have some in store for sale today after 3:00, I doubt there are any left. |

$12.50 shipping At least they show to be in stock.. IIf I order this one my onsale order from Sunday will go through and I'll end up with 2. If I don't order it I'll end up with zero. That's how my luck runs.

HP should have stuck to making printers, they've always been on the bottom of my list of choices regarding anything computer related
however at that price, despite having no need for it what so ever I might have picked one up...even though I haven't heard good things |

Earlier today it had a quantity listed, and now says call for availability. My order went to "shipped" a little while ago. Must have shipped on a slow boat though because the delivery date is Aug 30th |

I still have two orders hanging out in the HP SMB store. They haven't been cancelled yet, but they haven't shipped yet either. I've still got my fingers crossed.
You can sign up to be notified when they come back into stock in the HP Home & Home Office store: http://www.hp.com/united-states/webos/us/en/tablet/touchpad-availability.html I'm Also following @BrynaAtHP on twitter to get updates. |

FedEx delivered mine from Insight a little while ago. Almost went to the Best Buy for another one as my truck was at the Dodge dealer on Watson at 07:30 If you had come over by 8 you would have been about 15th in line. I should have taken my truck to the Dodge dealer, I need an oil change and my uconnect activated. By the time I got done at BB I had too much valuable stuff in the truck to try dragging it into the waiting area. |

So I take it its pretty much impossible to get one of these now? I was just thinking how nice it would be to have to watch movies on the airplane with next week. Probably your only hope is if Best Buy gets some more in. I've read rumors on the 'net that some BB's are saving some for their Labor Day sale. Ask at your local BB. I was able to pick up 3 on Friday. My wife asked the day before and found out there were some coming in on the truck that night. Friday morning, she went to BB 2 hours before they opened and was around #35/40 in line. I arrived a little before 9am (had a Dr. appt). BB employees started handing out vouchers at 9. They had 150 of them. They didn't run out of vouchers until after the store opened, while we were all in line at customer service to pay for them. |
