So, I'm just putting out feelers at this point but wanted to see if there would be interest in another build party. My work schedule has changed around but Saturday 30 March would be available for me. I haven't checked with anyone from the last build part or our previous host (who was great with and to us). At this point this is just a preliminary question of who would be interested in and possibly available to make it for this date, whether we are looking at the same location or possibly somewhere else for the build place. Please go ahead and post in the thread with your interest/information.

If I didn't express it well enough from last time, I really want to go out and say that I for one am so grateful for the expertise, knowledge base, and experience of the other members here and know that I wouldn't have been able to get anything done without you folks.

ETA: It looks like we are a go for 30 March according to our host. I propose we meet at Yelm Walmart at 0845 and drive in as before. It seemed to work a little better than the Park and Ride. I am in for my Polish Underfolder hopefully to complete it. This is all dependent on everyone being able to arrange schedules accordingly. I know it isn't going to work for some but I hope we can put together a group and get more done. Last time was really long and I hope it would be shorter but still productive. Now that I have been able to learn more, I feel I could be a bit more help with some of the things that need to get done. Post with questions or problems.

I'm game. But for me to commit I need min 2 weeks lead time to get a Saturday off.
As a added bonus, I'm in the process of building a new rail alignment jig.
Made a prototype that works nice, now just need to make it out of better metal.

Forgive me for being a total AK noob.. what's the outlay for a project like this? Parts kit + barrel + receiver flat?

Flat or pre-made receiver (if you can find either one currently)+ Parts Kit+Barrel+US made compliance parts

You then get lots of help from talented and knowledgeable people who can help you assemble these ones. We were able to complete my one rifle (a Romanian fixed stock model) and get several other receivers bent as well as riveting in several trunnions. It was a really long day but we did make lots of headway for several builds.

Sounds like a cool project.. unfortunately there's too many projects and too little time.

I posted links last time for those thinking about picking up parts but to answer your question:

In general you will be looking about 700 for everything (kit, barrel, flat/receiver, rivets, trigger, etc)
350 - Kit
125 - Barrel
30 - Flat
20 - Rivets
35 - Trigger
15 - Pistol grip
20 - Flash hider
595 Total plus shipping

For a 922R legal AK build you will need a min of 6 US parts (parts listed in green are the most common used and normally the least expensive. With the lack of kits with barrels adding that to the count gives you 7)
Receiver
Barrel
Mounting block (front trunion
Muzzle attachment
Bolt
Bolt carrier
Gas piston
Trigger
Hammer
Disconnector

Buttstock
Pistol grip
Handguard
Magazine body
Follower
Floorplate

I would desperately love to get in on something like this, but the 30th is no good for me.    Son's got Little League.

I am down for this.   I was going to attend the last one, but last minute parts count slapped me in the face with not having everything.
I too need a 1 to 2 week lead time for a saturday.  End of March is bad for me.

Thanks for that list, very comprehensive. The PSL type build interests me due to ammo availability and caliber.. whose receiver would you use if you were building one?

I had a Scouting event during the last one.  I'd love to attend.  I have most of the tools, press, etc...  Still looking for trigger guard rivet jig....

NoDak was making 100% PSL receivers in the past and list one on the site but it is marked for a 7.62x39. Haven't gotten around to calling them to find out if this is a typo and/or if they still offer the correct one. Next option would be Cold Steel's 80% (at $50) and doing the finish work. Last option would be a 0% using 4130 sheet and taking the time to cut/bend the whole thing.
If you go with the APEX kit, you will also need to pickup a barrel and the only place I have been able to find one listed if from Prexis at $225 but with a 14-18 WEEK wait. That is not to say someone else has one like Green Mountain, I just have not found any listed.

Keep in mind that you will still need to be 922r complaint and the same count for AK's goes for PSL's.
Trigger group (3)
Receiver (1)
Barrel (1)
gives you 5 and just need to change flash hider, piston or the wood. (I myself would do the flash hider unless the wood was trashed)

Going with the Cold Steel receiver, parts kit, barrel, 922r parts will run in the range of $700 plus mags at $45 a pop.
Not to bad when I'm seeing them going for 1200 to 1600

It's not bad at all, especially if you average out ammo costs over the long term (not that 5.45 is expensive, but still).  It's something to think about if you have another build party in the summer when I get some funds freed up.

Does anyone make an aftermarket mag for the PSL? Or are you stuck with 10 rounds?

Got word back from our previous host that he is available any Saturday in March and willing to host us again. I was trying for the 30th as it was still a couple weeks out. From the sounds of it there are roughly equal numbers of Yes's and No's. For me it would have to be 16th or 30th. I fear 16th is too close for schedule rearranging. If not, I would be amenable to it, but we need to know for sure. I think NorthWestAR is our key player so far, so we need to make sure he can work with whatever day we try. Any more thoughts/comments??

Just a FYI for anyone attending.
Have a new tool for setting up rails and it's slick.
No more setting and checking bolt, adjust, check, adjust.
Pop the guide in, set the rails, check clearance, spotweld

Totally 100% in agreement for short day. If we just can't pull this off, then we will need to reschedule for some time in April or later, not sure when. I would like to have it happen but if we can't do it, we can't. Family is big for me, so I don't want anyone to shortchange family time on the Easter weekend for this. Let's see what we do or don't have.... More thoughts/opinions?

Im in.  I only want to somewhat un-castrate my SLR-95, but I would like to watch and learn how a full build is done.

I will be driving in from the peninsula and haven't ever been to the Walmart on Yelm.  Does anyone have the address for this Walmart?

Edit:  Mentioning de-castrating my SLR 95 on post 95 must be a sign.

Could you expand on what your wanting to do. The only thing that comes to mind related to AK's and castration is removing the donkey d@^g from the front hand guard.

I think he means un-ban/de-ban his Bulgarian SLR-95. This is a milled receivered rifle that has the butthole stock, etc. I may be putting words in his mouth but I believe this is what he means. I am a fan of the Bulgarian milled rifles, in case anyone couldn't tell. As long as he has his compliance parts, this shouldn't be too big of a deal to help out with (change FCG, etc.) If I'm off in left field on this one, please tell me.

30th works for me.

Only weekend in Apr that is fubared for me is 6-7.

I'll have to get busy on the wood refinishing, but regardless, getting the trigger guards on both rifles riveted, and the trunnions and barrel installed on the second rifle and i'll be good.
