I contract part time with the USMS and its decent pay, no benifits though...
only have 3 yrs under my belt....want some more seat time before i really try to push for gov type job... really in all honesty would love to retire from EPD....its a solid department and well funded. |

So thats what the interesting rock pile is. Is it marked with a historical marker or anything like that?
I had honostly thought that maybe that had once been the town square or something. Maybe the base for a town square clock or light. Had no idea it was the meridian marker! Thanx! |

we may be talking about two different things....
there is the old jail.... with door still intact.....i need to get pics of that for you guys... meridian monument....pics of that too.... and about 100 fallen and broke down buildings.....to many to take pictures of. hell.....i got something to go look for!!!

The rock monument/lamppost/whatever oddity is easy to find if it's still there. I have to think 'cause they have rebuilt 33 highway....anyhow, theres a road that skirts the south edge of town. Driving into Langston from the west(like from Guthrie), instead of following the old 33 up through the college buildings and town, turn off onto a road that goes straight east along the south edge of town. You'll see the rock deal at the stop sign. That is unless they have done something with it. Seems like the road was part paved and part gravel. Don't know, it's been a couple three years since I've been to Langston, but I bet it's still there. I bet it's Meridian marker like you stated. Cool old landmark whatever it is. |
