I will be in Utah with ilikeboys, TxLewis and FAGARAK this upcoming week.
We are arriving Saturday the 13th, then going in to The Maze Sunday? Renting a jeep and supposedly we are camping for 2-3 days in the Maze, then around Wednesday returning to do some shorter day trips. ilikeboys is the 'guide' for this trip, but if any of you locals would like to join up, meet up, etc, let me know. IM me and I'll shoot you my cell number so we can link up at some point. TRG |

I was not driving when it got stuck, for the record. TRG |

Looks like user error... |

Looks like, "I'll walk up from here 'legs. You drive." TRG |

Quoted: Yep, if you're lucky Moab Brewery will have their Belgian Triple available. That is nothing short of spectacular (and it will knock you on your ass). High praise from a beer snob like me. And Outlaw Red at Red Cliffs Lodge and winery is no pansy wine. It has a kick, more so than any other wine I've had. A great pizza or bbq wine.http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u268/WestDesRat/fromflashdrive048.jpg If you guys see an older blue Toyota truck, with BFG mudders, a green AussieLocker sticker, and a small BFL logo in the back window... loaded for bear with camping gear and guns... being driven by a skinny redneck with a Larue Tactical hat.... say hello! I'll be down in the Moab area the 16th through the 21st. Probably running Hells Revenge, Elephant Hill, and Poison Spider Mesa jeep trails... and maybe a few others while I'm down there. Camping part of the time and staying in a hotel the rest of the time. Highly recomend Zax Pizza on Main street... (ask Zhukov how good it is). There is a good brewery, and also a vinyard down there. The Maze is a bad place to get stuck. It's probably THE most remote place in the lower 48. Avoid the noonday sun. Watch for vultures. Pray frequently. |

Most of this same group then used the road for the hike back in 2005. I biked Poison Spider Mesa as well in 2004. That flat out kicked my ass and I was biking for 3 months prior to it trying to get ready. It was almost as if I did nothing at all when I was finished. No way to really prepare for that ride unless you live there. This will be trip #10 for me to the Utah area. probably the last one for a while. I mainly go for the photography. |

You also teared up when you learned that the Park Ranger would NOT give you a ride back to camp. TRG Yeah, cried all the way back to camp... You are forgetting TWO arfcom witnesses to your misery and the 'wounded puppy dog' expression on your face when the Ranger said, "I told your buddy you could NOT get a ride back to the camp. What are you doing?" as you were trying to get in the back of his jeep.... I know, in my heart, it was wrong to lie to you and tell you that he was going to let you ride back, but in the spirit of the moment it just felt right, you know? TRG |

The soil where we are going is rock...so when I body slam you again...it's gonna hurt worse. You always forget to mention that 10 seconds before you grabbed me, you were getting peed on, by me. If I had not been trying to zip my fly, I could have broke our fall. Scratches heal, but urine stains the soul. pee-boy. TRG |

I knew there was a story here... Well, since I was peeing on his tent, and he heard the sound he decided to open the tent to see what was happening. That is when he got the shower. Myself and TxL decided that maybe we should prevent this from happening in the future. We used a marker and wrote, inside his tent flap "in case of urine, do NOT open!" Shockingly, ilikeboys got mad and threw the tent away. We were just trying to be helpful. It was not appreciated. TRG |

Yes we are renting a jeep in Moab. Will pick it up late Saturday or early Sunday. |

Yes we are renting a jeep in Moab. Will pick it up late Saturday or early Sunday. Have you checked with the Park Service on road conditons? The Flint Trail is often blocked by winter rock falls, and we have had a bit of snow down that way in the last few weeks. A few years ago I went down and drove the White Rim in February, and had to drive around a LARGE boulder that had fallen on the Green River side. Barely squeezed by with my truck partly off the road on the side of a cliff! That same time, they had the Shaffer Trail down from Island in the Sky closed due to a large rockfall. Might be a good idea to give them a call. |

The Park service actually just called me and told me the way in from the west going through Hanksville is closed and Flint trail is blocked.
So she gave me an alternate route and we will now be coming in from Hite to bypass Flint Trail...This way is actually easier she said. She wanted me to call her back on the day before we head in there... |

And lets not forget about you needing your own park permit now then as well. And I guess you can actually go ahead and go buy your very "own" tent while your at it. |

What's with all the Texans? Any more of 'em show up and we'll have to get out the shovels like we did for the Californians. For the Record, TxLewis is more accurately described as OhLewis, from Ohio. A penchant for screwing up beans by adding meat to them. ilikeboys is actually an Okie. We are allowing him to tag along since we like parking in handicap. FAGARAK, I think, is from Texas, but he is a well known nurturer. He is Camp Counselor for OhLewis and ilikeboys when I make them cry. He mends fences. TRG |
