Is it illegal to carry ammo around in your trunk?  If you were caught somewhere with just some ammo (maybe loaded in magazines) with no firearms, what would happen?

Also, is it legal to keep both the ammo and the firearms in the trunk if they are each locked seperately?  Such as ammo locked in an ammo bag and rifles/handguns locked in cases?  If you are taking 4 people to the range with you, it seems hard to keep a couple thousand rounds in the car with you.

Thanks!

Jail time and BOCOO $$$  for the first question ESPECIALLY if they are hollow points just "rolling around" in the trunk. They fine you by the bullet.
It does not matter if you have the firearm or not. BAD MOJO!!!

Correct assumption on the second question. As long as they are seperated from one another your fine.

Ummmm....
Of course you are talking about "while traveling directly to and directly from the range" on question two and not just driving around with the stuff in the trunk....RIGHT????????

Yes, on question 2, I meant from the range and back.

So you can't carry ammo?  I never knew that, glad I know now.
