| My tenant lost power to one of the rooms. No power to outlet or lights. PSE&G came over and checked the fuse panel according to him everything is working fine. Main line is ok. Both fuse panel are working correctly. I have power coming out of the circuit breaker for that room. If some one is a electriction can some help me thanks. |

Most likely you have a GFCI (ground fault circuit interrupter) in that circuit. Look in the bathroom or kitchen. Is there an outlet with a LED glowing? There should be a reset button on it. But, before resetting, figure out why it tripped. Sometimes cheap ones fail, in which case you will have to replace it. Just be certain that there is not true ground fault.
What idiot wired the outlets and the overhead lighting on the same circuit.
Good luck |

OK, just ruling out the ovious first.
Next, we look for a lose connection or a failed outlet/switch. Do you know which is the first outlet or light switch in the circuit? If so, turn the breaker off and open the outlet/switch. Look for gray, black or brown discoloration. That would indicate the recepticle/switch failed. Check the connections. Tighten if lose. If everything is tight, turn breaker back on and test the both black wires with a volt meter. It should read around 120V (+/-10V) If you have power on one side of the recepticle and not the other, turn the breaker off and replace the recepticle. If you have no power to the first recepticle in the circuit (and you know for certain that it is the first), and you have power out of the breaker, KILL THE BREAKER AND CALL AN ELECTRICIAN!! |
| now your in my world. 9 out of 10 times its a bad outlet and usally one that is working. process of elimination. Im me if you want that what i do for a living. (ps donatello every old house you ever go in the outlets and lights are on the same circuit except the kitchen.) [email protected] if you need it |

I find the problem with no power. It was the light switch. It had one HOT lead, one red wire controlling the light and the other black wire to the outlets. You guys were both right regarding the problem.
I would like to thank the following AR15 MEMBERS who help me out. DONTALO AND MJR73 |
